We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

New stuff from Salam Pax

Our chum from Baghdad has some new stuff up, so check it out.

If the blogger archives are still phuked, just go here.

Although I have never met the guy, would not know him from Adam and I doubt we see the world in the same way, I am unaccountably delighted he made it through the war in one piece and is once more blogging.

  • There are SO many folks just delighted to see him blogging away in his usual style! Now if the blogdom could just find a way to get him better access! For him to have kept a diary whilst he was without access took some determination, although one suspects he did that as much for himself as for us.

Besides being enjoyable reading, Where is Raed? offers a perspective simply unavailable through conventional western sources. A smart publisher might immortalize this blog as an Iraqi equivalent to The Diary of Anne Frank”.

Its May 13, 16:10 Thai time, and Salam’s website is STILL unreachable… page-not-available… been this way for the last 10 hours…

His posts HAVE been an eye opener…

similar to the Diary of Anne Frank…

We see Salam Pax as a bellweather symbol for countless millions of others, hence his importance to our continuing enquiry.

He’s not been encouraged to study the Teachings of a Persian nobleman who was exiled to Baghdad for 10 years in the late 1800’s…

but those Teachings could well hold valid answers to such pressing needs as “How do we collectively decide on OUR course of action, our policy?”

Ironic, n’est-ce pas? The Glory of God was under house arrest in Baghdad, yet tens of thousands came to love Him, and the mullahs of Iran had to send Him even FURTHER… and when the same love was evinced in Constantinople, only 8 years faster than Baghdad, the mullahs had Him shunted off to Akka, near Haifa, Palestine…

Where He pitched His tent on Mt Carmel… look at it today, Salam Pax. Look to Mt Carmel, Footstool of the Lord God Almighty… see the golden dome atop it? Holds the mortal remains of One Who was shot at point-blank range by 750 Christian Armenian soldiers, and when THAT didn’t kill Him, He was drug out again and hung up so that 750 Muslim soldiers could finish the job!

Look to Mt Carmel, Salam Pax, for there you’ll find justice. And that, in truth, IS an Eye Opener.
