When Sanchez came into power, he did so not via an election but by winning a no-confidence vote against former PP leader Rajoy in June 2018. In this moment, he promised to wash away the corruption of PP and lead Spain with dignity. After eight years of premiership, his ministers are in prison, and his only idea for economic growth has been the now completely discredited policy of importing waves of immigrants with cheap tourism to avoid reforming the country. He has hollowed out institution after institution, including his own party.
His legacy? Pedro Sanchez is the dead end of Europe´s open borders experiment. Let us pray that when he goes, he takes that corpse with him.

However, even in the brutality of that rule had a saving grace – the Spanish (like the Balkan peoples centuries later under Ottoman Rule) managed to reproduce themselves – they had children. It is this that the left have noticed about the past – and strive to prevent this survival of Western peoples into the future.
As for the economic side – the rulers do not really believe (and have never really believed) that the Third World migrants are good for the economy of Spain – which they are not.
I suspect that it is not as simple as that.

Snorri Godhi – it is indeed partly self interest by the left in politics, but it also sincere belief – and, of course, “sincere” does not mean morally good. They are sincere in their desire to utterly destroy historic Western nations, peoples – because they believe, in their Frankfurt School “Critical Theory” way that these historic peoples (their culture – even their biological existence) are preventing the creation of a wonderful new Collectivist society.
Astonishingly the vast international corporations are on-board with this agenda (perhaps it is just as well that Milton Friedman is not around any more – as he would be horrified by what the Corporations, which he supported, have become – this is NOT what he wanted) – it is not just the agenda of the United Nations (which one would expect), it is the agenda of the World Economic Forum – which the leading corporations (such as BlackRock-State Street-Vanguard – which have shares in each other and manage TRILLIONS of Dollars worth of shares) are connected to.
It does not take much courage to tell these very powerful people to f. off on a blog (such as this one) which they will never read – but Elon Musk went to their meeting and told the hired managers (such as the puppet who runs the Disney Corporation – which includes ABC television) to go F.-themselves- to their faces. He totally rejected their agenda of de facto genocide of historic nations and the establishment of a totalitarian society.
Elon Musk can do that because he does not work for anyone – and because he is so wealthy they would find it difficult to destroy him.
However, should the left gain full control of the American government (they already control the bureaucracy – and have done for quite some years) then the international Corporate State will destroy Mr Musk – regardless of how wealthy he is.
Before anyone points it out – YES I accept that the agenda of the international corporations is more Henri Saint-Simon than Karl Marx.

Yes it is hard to understand the attitude which leads people to reject one Collectivist “leader” and then support another one who is following the same international agenda.
And it is not just Spain – after all in Britain “Andy” Burnham is committed to the same international agenda of destruction that Sir Keir Starmer was, yet the media tell us (endlessly) that Mr Burnham is very popular – and the Labour Party is winning council by-elections in some parts of the country, and doing well in the opinion polls – although that may be a feed-back-loop, the media say Mr Burnham is very popular – and because they say it (endlessly) that makes people say they support him.
There is also the fact that the Vox Party in Spain has no chance of winning a majority in the Spanish Parliament – so will the Popular Party in Spain work with them?
In both the Netherlands and Austria the “mainstream” right betrayed the “Populist” right.
And in Britain – the Conservative Party, the Reform Party and Restore Party just trade insults – they refuse to work together.
The United States is a bit different (although if this difference will mean that America will survive – I do not know) – in the United States it was possible for a “Populist” to become the candidate of the “mainstream right” party for President (full disclosure – at the time I was AGAINST Donald J. Trump and supported Senator Cruz) – and become President.
This is like Nigel Farage becoming leader of the Conservative Party – and becoming a Prime Minister and Head of State (no King Charles with “forgotten” Royal powers – that could be revived to undermine any Reform Party government – if, if, it tried to follow “illiberal” policies – by the bizarre new definition of what “liberal” means).
A totally different political system – someone like “Trump” becoming head of government and head of state would be utterly impossible here – although whether he and others will manage to save the United States is very much in doubt.
Is it theoretically possible for the United Kingdom to be saved?
Yes it is theoretically possible – but I see no sign of it.
The first step would be for the Conservative Party, the Reform Party and the Restore Party to stop trading insults – and to work together, I see no sign of that – but it is, theoretically, possible.
If the right was truly united then even the establishment (including the Bank of England, which destroyed Liz Truss for daring not to be an economic collectivist, and the various “forgotten” powers of the Head of State which could also be used against a government that turned “illiberal”) might NOT dare to prevent them enacting “Populist” “illiberal” policies.
Again what the modern international establishment mean by the words “liberal” and “illiberal” is just about the opposite of what (say) Gladstone or John Bright meant by these words.
Remember what they did to Liz Truss – not because she adopted any “racist” or “Islamophobic” policies (the lady did no such thing) – all Prime Minister Truss did was reject the policy of ever higher government spending and taxation – which has been policy in Britain since Margaret Thatcher was betrayed in 1990.
Because of this “crime” of rejecting ever more Collectivism – the Bank of England (and the Corporate financial entities that depend upon it and the other Central Banks in the world) deliberately (quite deliberately) created a “financial crises” – so the establishment could say “Liz Truss crashed the economy”. The “financial markets” ignored half a TRILLION Pounds of insane (and counter productive) Covid spending, but flung their toys out of the pram over the reduction of tax rates.
The establishment are still pushing this lie (vicious lie) that “Liz Truss crashed the economy” – and most people believe it, because they have been told the lie so many times.
Imagine what the Bank of England (and the rest of the international Corporate State) would do to a Prime Minister Nigel Farage or Prime Minister Rupert Lowe.
A typical example of this would-be ruling class is Mark Carney (he is nothing special – he is just a typical example of this vile class of people) – who went from “working in the financial industry” (Credit Bubble work), to the Bank of England (creating Credit-Money bubbles – that is what the Bank of England is for), to being Prime Minister of Canada.
Mr Carney was quite open about his attitude to business.
Business enterprises that supported the totalitarian agenda of DEI (Critical Theory – Frankfurt School stuff) and “Net Zero” would be “richly rewarded” – with Credit Money (created from nothing).
And business enterprises that did not support the totalitarian agenda – would be destroyed, they would “cease to exist”.
Perhaps I am a bit hard on Corporations – after all they are told that if they support tyranny they will be “richly rewarded” and if they oppose tyranny they will “cease to exist” – so the natural option for them is to support tyranny.
As Snorri says – people tend to respond to incentives.
And – if you support the agenda of tyranny you will be “richly rewarded” (with money created from nothing) and if you do not support tyranny (international tyranny) you will be destroyed – you will “cease to exist” – are rather strong incentives.
A monetary and financial system that allows establishment people (such as Mr Carney – but again he is nothing special, he is just a typical establishment person – just as the Prime Minister of Spain is) to tell every business…..
“You will be richly rewarded” if they follow a certain political line, and “you will cease to exist” (be destroyed by the cutting off of credit and financial services) if they do not follow a certain political line….
Well, such a monetary and financial system is clearly a Bad Thing (TM). Such a monetary and financial system corrupts economic life – making everything political.
Lending should be from Real Savings, the actual sacrifice of consumption, and money should be a commodity that people choose to value before-and-apart-from its use as money. Money should not be something that government, and its pets, can create from nothing – and dish out to their associates (at the expense of everyone else – Cantillon Effect).
Get government, and the pets of government (such as the Credit Bubble banks) OUT of money and finance.
Do that – and the WEF and all the rest of it, are toothless.

Snorri – my concern is with policy – and it takes space to discuss such matters.
I have seen (indeed have experienced – at the county level) being in office, but not in power – and it is a wretched position to be in.
There is not much point of the Freedom Party in Austria or the Netherlands being in office (in the past) – if they are not allowed to do anything.
(a) There is a point, in so far as they preserved freedom of speech.
That might not have immediate consequences, but it is important in the long run.
(b) The reason “they are not allowed to do anything”, is Brussels.
Once France and/or Germany get a “far-right” (ie commonsense) government, they’ll be allowed to do sensible things.
