It is good to see Mr. Burnham is focusing his energies on the most pressing problems facing the British public.
Thank the Lord he is taking his new responsibilities seriously and not going for some low hanging fruit cheap publicity stunt.

Cheshire East Council recently failed to take our bins for two months. This was during very hot weather. I feared a plague and I mean Old Testament. If I had cancelled my direct debit for the council tax d’ya think it would take them eight weeks to respond?
“Free”? It isn’t even “taxpayer funded”! It is funded on massive debt of a largely fictional currency.

I can think of nothing to add.
It’s displacement activity. 100% pure, weapons-grade displacium. Burnham is clearly unwilling or unable to address the most pressing problems facing the British public, so he is busily doing absolutely anything other than that.

Mr Burnham is not “unwilling or unable” to address the pressing problems – he does not regard them as problems, to him (and the international establishment generally) they are “not a bug – they are a feature”.
The destruction of historic Western nations, peoples, used to be the objective of a few freaks – such as the Fabian society and the Bloomsbury group in Britain, but since about the 1960s it has become the objective of the general establishment – in this country and other Western nations.
Western culture, and Western peoples themselves, are to be destroyed – and the agenda of destruction has been underway for many years, see (for example) the collapse of the traditional family, the decline of fertility, and the demographic transformation of the cities – now spreading to towns and even villages.
What is happening is not accident – and nor is it Hayek style “social evolution”. It is a top-down agenda of destruction.
People who get into positions of authority either believe in the agenda of destruction – or do not really think about it, and just go along with what “experts” suggest, because that is the way to keep their own positions.
Do the “experts” really believe they will create a better society on the ruins of the old society – or is their objective really the destruction itself.

From my experience (which is quite a lot more than I ever wanted) at the local levels the (un)civil servents are not ideolofues, they’re jobsworths.
Burnham could use his honeymoon to tackle the 7 Crises (according to me). Which are:
Freedom of Speech
Integration
Debt
Housing
WW3
Net Zero
Health
But he doesn’t. This is partly because he is in favour of some of these crises but partly because they are too difficult. Thus he engages in trivialities like this. This is known as “displacement activity”.
BTW, is there no market for the self-cancelling subscription? Renewing-subscription Hell is one of the key reasons I keep subscriptions down to the bare minimum.

One thing I never really understood is why you can’t tell your credit card company to refuse changes from a specific select vendor. You can dispute it after the fact (and, FWIW, that is a good way to cancel a subscription) but why can’t you just say “don’t accept charges from this guy”. Probably some stupid legal loophole.
Here in the United States it is practically impossible to completely close a bank account. You can “close” it, but it sort of sits there in a zombie status waiting to be blown up in identity theft or get some random charge that you are somehow responsible for. I guess that is the sort of shit you get in hyper regulated industries like these ones.
Re the “small boats” a single round from a GPMG, never mind from a 20mm, 30mm, or 4.5 inch gun, as long as the officer was not reprimanded, would solve the problem for good. It only happens because the government wants it to happen.
NickM – they go along with the agenda (often without even understanding it) in order to keep their positions.
Had I become a Local Government Officer, or stayed a Civil Servant (yes “stayed” – because I was a Civil Servant, and in the Home Office itself), I would have had to do the same thing.

I don’t think a shot has to be fired (though maybe…). Just treat illegal immigrants as criminals (the clue is in the word “illegal” and the scrotes that transport them as what they are which is slave traders. There was a time when the RN (West Africa Squadron) interdicted slave boats. They aren’t even being given a memorial because I live in a country that wants to wallow in how guilt rather than celebrate a remarkable naval deployment that freed 150,000 slaves.
The role my country played against slavery is well-underplayed. Ask a former Cambridge Prof named Arday about it.
