Samizdata quote of the day

Not since Sue Lawley invited him on to Desert Island Discs can Gordon Brown have agonised for so long over his CD collection.

Alice Thompson.

Christ, I remember that Desert Island Discs, it was horrible. Brown’s taste in music is wretched enough to disqualify him from high office IMHO. Though actually, if the BBC kept to its old standards, it should suffice merely to disqualify him from Desert Island Discs.

Kirsty Young’s next guest on Desert Island Discs is Alistair Darling. However, the programme will be shorter than usual because he has lost four of the eight records.
