Houston and Galveston in the cross hairs?

We will just have to get used to bigger storms as we head deeper into the upside of the decades long Atlantic storm cycle. Over the next decade nature will be reclaiming land which became saleable during the downside of the cycle. Unfortunately there are some pretty useful things in threatened areas. One of which is the marvellous Lone Star Flight Museum.

I hope they are getting their airframes out of Dodge and their exhibits to safety. I would hate to see a repeat of what happened to Kermit Week’s collection in Florida about ten years ago.

I just spoke with my father who flys in to the Flight Museum regularly from Friendswood, and he says that the majority of the planes have been moved as of this evening…

  • Repeat after me:

“The failure of the Bush administration, which is led by a politician, not a subject matter expert, to deflect Hurricane Rita is yet another abject failure of this incompetent administration to protect America and furthermore, it wouldn’t have happened had the U.S. signed on to Kyoto, the International Criminal Court, and the Durban Declaration against Israelis, Jews, people who are half-Israeli, people who live near synagogues, and the Zionist abomination. It’s God’s revenge against Amerikkka, unless Pat Robertson thinks it is, in which case it isn’t.”

Don’t worry, I haven’t switched sides. I’m just trying to save the hard left and their Islamacist buddies a little work by getting those inevitable wild-a** accusations and clinically insane interpretations of natural events out there early.

    Funny.

The National Guard will be fighting a useless war in Iraq, although if deployed in Texas to help people survive, they should have been in Iraq helping our boys and getting us out of this quagmire.

  • Gosh, I wish I could have said it!

  • How come whenever the excrement strikes the oscillating ventillation device people take my last name in vain?

I hope all these planes and people who fly em’ get out safely. I have seen what happens when hurricanes and planes on the ground meet.

  • But of course none of this has ANYTHING to do with global warming. Ostrich, meet Sand.

But of course none of this has ANYTHING to do with global warming.

And Global Warming by human activity proponants would explain the melting of the MARTIAN icecaps as also being a product of global warming on EARTH? Or just maybe a product of cyclical solar activity? Pick one please.

No, I do not think a couple big hurricanes are the result of global warming. There is nothing unusual about hurricanes like this in the gulf and east coast regions… other than we have been in the low part of the cycle for a number of years and are returning to the more severe part of the North Atlantic oscillation.

Go watch ‘Key Largo’. It’s about a hurricane back in the 30’s or 40’s which ripped the Florida Keys to shreds. If the population in Florida had been then what it is now, there’d have been thousands dead.

There were horrific storms there in the fifties and early sixties. I had family down there and heard the stories.

This just ain’t nothing unusual. Now, if the cycle doesn’t go into another downturn in a decade or two, that might mean something.

Don’t try to use a hammer on everything. Not everything is a nail.

btw… I would add that the huge buildup of homes on the Outer Banks of the Carolinas over the past couple decades is simply asking for trouble. They *ARE* going to be washed away. Global warming has nothing to do with it. Building on coastal barrier dunes was about as stupid as you can get… unless you figure paying $100K for 10-20 years of use before it all becomes driftwood is a worthwhile price to pay.

Well, obviously, the Martian ice caps are melting because of global warming there caused by imperialist US space probes landing on the planet ;-).

I’m sure Usama Bin Laden loves Rita…and after all why not?

The lady has always had a healthy penchant for bearded Middle-Eastern religious leaders- she even married one of them back in 1949: Prince Ali Agha Khan!

And since the Halcyon days of president F. Delano Roosevelt, Rita has also been the most popular pinup in the Pentagon and aboard US navy warships…

Talk about a highly consensual pop icon that will finally bridge the Washington-Mecca divide!

    😉

  • Everybody should be alarm about Global Warming but this has nothing to do about Martians or Aliens alike. Its a natural thing that can happen to Earth its a part of the so-called evolution 🙂
