I bought a large kitchen knife at my supermarket recently. When it went through the scanner, a big alert flashed up on the screen saying “Check ID!!” Apparently one should be 18 if wishing to puchase a kitchen knife. The spotty kid behind the counter, who probably had about four years to wait before he could legally buy alcohol and vote, found himself thrust into the role as nanny and sadly didn’t know where to look.
