We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

  • OK….if the republicans had half a brain, which we all know they don’t, being the Stupid Party, they would buy TV time and run this endlessly.

They’re too busy running moderates against conservatives in all the primaries.

Oh well. Stupid Party is as stupid party does.

    What a delightful song!

Republican? Conservative? iDave? New Labour? Democrat?
I think it all tends to sing to the same song sheet.
Which is why this is so refreshing.
Nothing like the truth to de-materialise lies!

The US has sure come a long way.

I wonder what would have happened if the constitution had continued to be held sacrosanct, instead of something to be “got around”.

There would have been no civil war for one thing. No fed, no ATF, no FBI…. no Obama!

Would the US even exist in a recognisable form any more?

And if the answer is no, has the creation of the entity known as the “Federal Government” been a price worth paying?

  • I love this video. Tim Hawkins, the creator, has done a number of good ones spoofing other songs as well (a lot of which can be found on youtube). He is one of the rising stars in the evangelical Christian community.

Not sure when the posted video came out, but in all fairness it should be pointed out that Canadian comedian Greg Morton created a very similar themed parody of the same song in early 2009: Obama Man.

Who can take tomorrow? Spend it all today? Who can take your income and tax it all away? Obama man… Yes, Obama man can…

    Brilliant! Thanks for posting it.

  • Ha ha! I’ve reposted it to facebook, maybe it’ll enlighten a few “real people.”
    Or perhaps not.
