Samizdata quote of the day

“After trying to watch the first debate Maggie said, ‘they irritate me’. She is particularly angered by the way all three do their utmost not to answer questions.”

– Margaret Thatcher’s apparent view of the recent election debate. Attributed to her by Katie Hind

And if debates weren’t new to Britons, she’d probably have been used to it by now.

Well, these oldies need their sleep, don’t they? If she is prepared to be re-elected, and lead the party, then she would be worth listening to! (And I suspect the Tories would win more seats with Her back!)

That is bizarre on oh so many levels. Did the forget the nature of her losing the PM’ship perhaps?

Not at all! But She would be much better than Davo, surely?

  • To say the least but I think she is a bit too frail to finish the job she started unfortunately.

I keep hoping that i Dave will fall off his bike and under a bus, then we could have Hague back, or even better, Daniel Hannan.
Why is he in Brussels and not Westminster by the way? Are the Tory leadership scared he will frighten the horses?

Even at 84 (and after several strokes) M.T. still has more will power than me.

I tried to watch the debates (really I did), but after awhile I felt that if I carried on watching I would scream and scream and be unable to stop (which might have upset the people next door) so I turned the station to watch the Neil Cavuto show.
