Worrisome stories on Fox News I am still out on the road, sitting in the Westin St Francis in San Francisco watching a bit of news after several long, long backstage work days at the JPMorgan Technology and Telecoms investors conference. I’ve a lovely view out over the bay from here on the 24th floor.
But that is not why I sat down to write this brief item. According to Fox News an airline flight from LA to DC (still in the air) is being watched closely by US security. There has been little detail on what is up.

According to the local talk radio (I was driving home at the time), an United flight from LAX to Washington DC (Flight 200) is currently undergoing microscope treatment where literally every single piece of removable article within the cabinet have been examined.
I couldn’t find anything on Google News or Fox News’s site. Could be a near miss, or it could be nothing. Let’s hope it was nothing.

It seems logical to assume that various Islamic groups have tried to attack the United States since September 11th 2001. No effort to attack has, so far, been successful.
I am often critical of the Bush administration – but in this matter I must give credit where credit is due.
I usually follow the “reverse psychology” method. If a specific flight, route, etc is deemed potentially dangerous, I take that flight or route, because the chance of something hapenning there is less than it happening on any other flight/route.
If you travel between London and San Francisco, as I do, you find that the United flights which stop over in JFK and Washington DC have been steeply discounted for some time.
I haven’t been tempted. I would like to visit the Capitol, but I’d prefer to land at the airport.
