We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata quote of the day – The Entertainment / Grift / Online Industrial Complex

Once you realise part of Patriot Platform’s operating model is that of a parapolitical soap opera, with feuds, beefs and big characters… it starts to make more sense. And, ofc, this type of politics turns on making a pound note, as Tommy Robinson’s many detractors have shown. And I’m hardly Nick Lowles, but evidence is evidence. There’s an entire ecosystem of influencers, “auditors” and YouTubers making a living peddling ragebait. The police? They’re extras in Danny Tommo’s ongoing structured reality TV show.

  • Sounds about right 😀 I actually have a lot of Lauren Southern but she’d be the first one to agree the Alt-Right is like a soap opera, one that stomped on her quite badly.

    I don’t see why Danny Tommo or Tommy Robinson can’t make a few quid out of anger against the very real enshittification of Britain, when Tim Stanley and most of his colleagues earn their corn from promoting defeatism, passivity and letting the left win.

  • Fair enough, I don’t disagree with any of that, Marius.

    @Marius

    Imagine the outrage if it was proposed that they should be given money from a levy imposed on streaming services,

  • decnine

    The outrage is that Tommo has been remanded in custody charged with minor criminal damage.

    Marius is correct on this.

    I may not like TR or DT (but how much of that dislike is a matter of their accent and manner – “England is a country where the sound of someone’s voice makes other people automatically hate them, regardless of what they are saying” – the class snobbery of accents, T.R. could quietly read out the telephone directory and many people would hate him – because of the sound of his voice), but they are willing to go to prison for their beliefs (the “legal cases” against T.R. have been farcical – a leftist would NOT have been sent to prison for what he supposedly did), and they risk death – the death threats against them are quite real, and they know it.

    Those of us who have not yet been sent to prison for opposing the present regime and its imposition of what Gad Saad calls policies of “suicidal empathy” on the British people, and do not get, many, death threats – should keep this in mind.

    “You support financial corruption!” – No I do NOT.

    Said my piece on Tommo and Tommy here. Not much further to add, curiously despite Tommo’s ongoing encounters with the security services, the patriot platform website still invites you to register by providing your name, date of birth, phone number, email address, town, postcode etc, everything the security services would love you to provide if you support a direct action group like that.

    And yes, Tim Stanley and everyone and the Daily Telegraph are awful too. Neither Toryboyism nor Tommysphere are promising paths.
