Labour isn’t fixing policing or illegal immigration – it’s building a surveillance state

Surveillance states don’t drop from the sky. They emerge alongside seemingly reasonable excuses that do not ring alarm bells for the ordinary citizen, piggybacking on genuine issues that are of concern to the public. In this case, with breathtaking cynicism, labour are using people’s justified concerns about immigration and the rise in crime to impose what Mahmood unironically describes as a panopticon state upon law-abiding citizens, whilst – typically for this government – doing nothing to address the root cause.

While I am primarily Asian in ancestry, through my wife and through my mother I have some connections to the UK. Interestingly enough, all Celtic. While I have long wanted to visit those parts of my heritage; today I would no more visit the UK than I would Russia.

Subotai Bahadur – as long as you stay away from the cities and big towns you would be fine. Even I have nice villages within walking distance (although none of the walks to-and-from these places are pleasant).

Perry – yes Eve Lugg is correct. The British government, elected and unelected, does not give a damn about illegal immigration – or about crime (the violation of the bodies and goods of the people) – it is just using excuses to push its agenda of control. I hope people do not fall for this manipulation.

  • Under a Reform UK government a lot of the Blairite infrastructure of totalitarianism will be repealed away, leaving a far leaner, less costly and less intrusive state.

Then a bonfire of the Quangos along with termination of payments to fake charities and other non-Government agencies and it makes it difficult to restore under a future government of whatever stripe.

Vote Reform UK at every election!

“For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong”.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for a state to wish to have a database of its citizenry, with some easy method of confirming identity. It is also increasingly inevitable as retailers and financial institutions require ID verification. This in turn is a result of government regulations, for example banks are required to obtain ID to prevent money laundering. It’s being introduced through the back door.

The problem of course is that the government has zero credibility on this issue – it is 100% certain that digital ID will NOT be used to effectively deal with illegal immigration, but WILL be used to monitor and control what goods and services we pay for.

A more pro-active approach to dealing with the problem of government overreach would be to implement strict privacy regulation, including privacy in payments. In the US the founding fathers missed a trick when they didn’t include that in the fourth amendment – benefit of hindsight and all that. In the UK of course we don’t have these rights to start with, even on paper.

If we did have such privacy protections in place, one might well ask what the added benefit of digital ID is, which leads us back to the original conclusion.

Lastly, Germany and Sweden both have mandatory ID in place. Sweden’s immigration problem is much worse than in the UK; maybe Germany’s is about the same. That tells you all you need to know really.

Ultimately, there is no protection for liberty as great as being part of a body politic that has the same value as us. Long term I think we need a separation between those would not mind living in a technocratic dictatorship like Singapore (and most UK people would probably be ok with that) and those that prefer Texas.

In this case the “hobgoblins” are quite real (indeed even Mencken’s time some-of the “hobgoblins” both Marxists and National Socialists were real), the point is not that crime and mass immigration (and the natural increase of these hostile populations – over generations) are not real – they are real, the problem is that the British government does not care about reversing them (for example remigration) – it is just using them as an excuse for its agenda of building a totalitarian (and the word “totalitarian” need to be used – for this is what total-control means) system – over time, NOT at once, but over time.

The British government is not alone in all this – indeed this is a general agenda of the International Community.

Mass immigration must NOT be confused with libertarian “free migration” – it is totally different, what is happening is planned by governments and other organisations.

Take the example of the State of Maine – Mr Matt Walsh may not be a very nice man (he may be a “racist” and what-not), but the evidence he has produced is quite real – the government of Maine, and the media and “business leaders” (Corporate business leaders) have for quite some years followed an active policy of inviting in, and giving massive financial support to, immigrants – as long as they were not “white” – they openly say this, in writing. This is their commitment to making Maine “more diverse”.

The rise in crime and the rise in dependency on government benefits and services (how are these things part of libertarian free migration – they are NOT) is not an accident – it is deliberate.

The government and corporate establishment viewed the lack of “Diversity” in Maine as something they should “fix” – and more crime, the destruction of communities, and the rise of dependency on government benefits and services, they believe is a price-worth-paying for this “Diversity”.

Maine is a well documented recent example (and the plan, and it is a “plan”, is still on going – still in the fairly early stages) – but this has been a near universal policy in the Western world since the 1960s.

What is happening, the slow destruction (slow genocide) of historic nations (historic peoples), is not the result of “human action, but not of human design” or “libertarian free migration” – it is a deliberate “human design” of the establishment – and it has been massively subsidized and promoted by propaganda and indoctrination (“education”).

And dissent is made illegal – by “Hate Speech” laws.

The next target may well be Hungary – the opposition is promising the Moon and Stars, higher government spending (on everything) and LOWER taxes – but the real agenda of the International Community is to bring the “Enrichment” of “Diversity” to Hungary – to eliminate this Western nation, and all other Western nations. NOT at once (not in a single day or year) – but over DECADES.

“The Boiling Frog” – tell people you are going to take their country away from them (destroy them) today, and they will rise in revolt. But do it gradually, over decades, and the situation is different.

  • Paul Marks.

Britain (England – for it is England that we are really talking about) had “libertarian free migration” for centuries – it did NOT really change the nature of the country, both culturally and genetically continuity was largely maintained. Some people came – but not many, because it was hard to make a living in a country where you did not know the language or culture – and the government (and so on) would give you no help, and if people did not want to associate with you (because you seemed alien to them) they were not FORCED to trade with you, employ you, rent you housing, and so on.

The mass migration of recent decades has nothing to do with libertarian free migration – it has been massively promoted and subsidized by government and other powerful institutions. And edicts (“laws”) have been imposed for over 60 years – directly attacking Freedom of Association and Freedom of Speech, in order to crush dissent against this agenda.

If the intent of the establishment was benevolent they would have turned the education system and media into an indoctrination system, and they would not send people to prison for speaking against them and their agenda – in Britain and other Western nations.

    Their intent is not benevolent.

  • Paul Marks.

Jon Eds – I suspect the Swedish position is NOT worse than the British position.

    Subotai,
I think “England has fallen” is perhaps over-played but Paul might have a point about getting out of the big cities. I did. I used to live in Levenshulme, Manchester (oddly enough in the constituency of Gorton and Denton where an interesting by-election is about to happen). It is basically the Greens and Reform fighting for the soul of the nation. I’m not a Farage fanboi but compared to the “titty-whisperer“‘s gang of disparate loons (a bizarre coalition of tree-huggers, trans-ideologists and Islamicists – what could possible go wrong?) he’s our last, best hope*. We shall see.. But then “Gorton Girls Know All The Words To Songs By Chaka Khan” so I don’t know.

So I moved South to the relative sticks. I think the tipping point was a KFC rip-off place showing a poster shortly after the Manchester Arena bombing** praising the “Magnificent 19” – the 9/11 bombers. At first I thought it was an add for a crappy Bollywood movie and then it hit me and hit me hard – I’m English, in the third largest city of England and I am the foreigner.

But where I live now is different. The local corner shop (run by a Muslim family) just got it’s booze license! It’s a well run business – always has been. Alas it needs to be because the high street is being destroyed by the eternal march of Ed Millipede and all his tiny jackboots and his accomplice Rachel Thieves but things are not beyond redemption and it is a nice place to live. So, Subotai, if you’re in the South Machester, Stockport, East Cheshire neck of the woods I’d be more than happy to show you around. Just a pleasant walk away is Lyme Park (where Colin Firth as Mr Darcy caused some swooning) or I could take you for a pint at my local which is owned by a brewery which is family run and has been since 1838. Just down the road I know the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at (and yes, I have been to Italy) but we’d have to split the bill on that. England has not fallen.

*I do though hope Kemi gets her arse into gear because she’s smart and STEM and Tory. Sounds like someone from years ago..
**The gig that was bombed was Ariana Grande. Her fanbase is largely girls aged 10-15 yet it’s the IDF who are the kiddy-killers!

  • Paul Marks.

NickM – I have NOT said that England has fallen. In theory there is still time to save England – but, tragically, such things as remigration are still not considered “respectable” – by the time “nice” people change their minds, it may well be too late (it is NOT now – but by the time the “nice” wake up, it may be). The nonsense claim that “they will assimilate” continues to be trotted out – as if fashion, pop music and Association Football were “assimilation” (news flash to the “nice” – these things are NOT assimilation and have nothing to do with assimilation). Yes some individuals do assimilate – for example former Bishop Ali. But most do not – and there children and children-children do not.

People used to talk of an “Anglosphere” – how can it continue exist if it is not “Anglo”? Mark Steyn was unconcerned about the Canadian Conservatives losing the election (whether or not President Trump’s jokes had anything to do with that defeat – and they MAY HAVE, it is quite possible – the sort of teasing that is fine for a private citizen to come out with, is NOT good for a President), because he did not believe the Canadian Conservatives would reverse the demographic destruction of the Canadian people, their replacement. He may have been quite WRONG about that – but it is hard to know.

And all this is not confined to the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the United States – it is also true of Germany, Italy, France, the Netherlands and so on.

Everywhere in the West, the International Establishment has the same agenda – which has been pushed for many decades. The gradual destruction of historic nations – historic peoples. Both by reducing the fertility of native populations (by undermining the family and so on) and by mass immigration by, and natural increase of, hostile population groups – NOT as the result of “libertarian free migration”, but as a planned importation – pushed by massive government spending and propaganda indoctrination campaigns, and “laws” crushing Freedom of Association and Freedom of Speech.

    In effect – genocide.

  • In this case, the “root cause” is obvious: Samizdata.net commenters are the sexiest people on Earth, so much so that the State gets shy about asking to see more of us, and has to cloak its true aims by pretending it wants to watch the entire population.

If only we hosted more livestreams, we could solve this problem in a week.

  • Paul Marks.

The Economist magazine has finally noticed the peril of mass immigration of hostile population groups – which has seen enemies not only enter, for example, the United States – but be elected to various bodies, such as the United States Congress.

Oh, sorry, the Economist magazine does NOT regard the entry and natural increase of hostile populations as the “peril”, it regards Immigration and Customs Enforcement as the “peril” – and the Communist terrorists who are, in part, funded by people based in the People’s Republic of China are, according to the Economist magazine a “Civil Rights network”

Now there may be some theoretical difference between the socialism of, for example, the New Statesman magazine and the “liberalism” of the Economist magazine, but in-practice (in-practice) there-is-no-difference – the front cover of both magazines (and the content of both magazines) push the same agenda – “Trump” = bad, invaders = good.

In present and future fighting, the inevitable warfare to see whether or not Western nations survive at all, both the New Statesman magazine and the Economist magazine are the same side – the same side as both the Marxists and the Islamists (Red-Green Alliance – an unnatural alliance that will break down as soon as “reactionaries” are exterminated).

There is no practical difference – both publications want-us-to-be-dead, exterminated.

The mental blindness of these “liberals” is extreme – they think they can just carry on their wealthy and comfortable lives, with just nasty “reactionaries” wiped out, they will be astonished when their “friends” come for them.

    Which they will.

On a battlefield there are no neutral parties – only friends and enemies, kill or be killed, and the Economist magazine has chosen to side with the enemy – with the unnatural Red-Green alliance.

  • Paul Marks.

In Spain the government (the local representative of the International Community) is declaring half a million illegal immigrants “legal”.

It is time to remove the word “theory” from “Great Replacement Theory”.

Reduce the fertility of Western nations (by using feminism and other weapons), and import a replacement for the nation (the people) that is being destroyed.

  • Stuart Noyes

Labour is continuing its masters policies. The Fabian policy of regionalisation. Moving the state further away from the people.

  • Roué le Jour

But it is not a “replacement” in any meaningful sense. The outcome will not be western European countries exactly as they were before, Brits on bicycles, Parisians sipping coffee on the boulevard, Italians buzzing around on Vespas, but with brown people instead of white. Third world people will turn western Europe in to third world lawless shitholes with collapsed economies. The aim here is not replacement, it is destruction.

  • Paul Marks.

    Stuart Noyes – yes.

Roue le Jour – sadly yes, and I apologize for not making this clear. The aim is indeed destruction – the destruction of historic nations, historic peoples. The destruction of these cultures – NOT the replacement of one group of people with another group of people who happen to have different skin tone (skin tone is morally irrelevant) who continue the existing culture.

This is why it is pointless to try and reason with the left establishment (the international establishment – including the corporate bodies) as explaining the terrible consequences of their policies, to them, achieves nothing – because they-already-know, and these terrible consequences are what-they-want.

  • That’s a shame, because as Paul says, you’d be depriving yourself of a pleasant holiday so long as you are careful where you go. Avoiding London at all costs would be the simplest thing to guard against the worst excesses of the surveillance state.

‘and then it hit me and hit me hard – I’m English, in the third largest city of England and I am the foreigner.’

It creeps up on you. Lived here for 30 years, a quiet and affluent part of a run down strictly Labour voting east London borough, and when we moved it, it was 100% white English. Just took a walk to the local park (I play Pokemon Go) and didn’t hear an English accent once. The houses around me are 99% foreign-owned – all with top of the line Audis and BMWs in the drive, and over half currently extending into the loft.
It’s increasingly difficult to get a seat on the Tube because the surrounding area is filling up with high-rise buildings that are occupied quickly and don’t even get me started on the local hospitals…

I can’t wait to retire and get the hell out of here!

  • JuliaM: Do you have room in your Friends List for another?

  • gottarideduc

Of course they’re not doing anything to solve root causes.
Why would they deprive themselves of the root justification to build their sinister panopticon – and stay in power with it’s help? Duh!

  • Paul Marks.

JuliaM – I hope you have the money to retire overseas.

If not – West Sussex might be nice. Perhaps Chichester.
