We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.
Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

This not not a fight the UK government can win using the old playbook It has been interesting to see the predictably alarmed reactions to the huge march in London organised by Tommy Robinson et al.
One remark I heard on a video was “The most alarming aspect of the event was just how normal the vast majority of the marchers were… the sort of people you’d meet in a country pub, or at a half-time queue for the loo or a concert.”
At first, my reaction to hearing that was “surely the normality of the crowd should have made the march less alarming”… but then I realised the marchers not being stereotypical bovver boys makes plausibly labelling the demonstration as “far-right” vastly harder.
Yes, I can see how that might alarm some people as the magic words racist, fascist, and far-right lose their power from years of overuse and the fact there were reggae bands and alarmingly black faces in the crowd.

Who Are We? The Samizdata people are a bunch of sinister and heavily armed globalist illuminati who seek to infect the entire world with the values of personal liberty and several property. Amongst our many crimes is a sense of humour and the intermittent use of British spelling.
We are also a varied group made up of social individualists, classical liberals, whigs, libertarians, extropians, futurists, ‘Porcupines’, Karl Popper fetishists, recovering neo-conservatives, crazed Ayn Rand worshipers, over-caffeinated Virginia Postrel devotees, witty Frédéric Bastiat wannabes, cypherpunks, minarchists, kritarchists and wild-eyed anarcho-capitalists from Britain, North America, Australia and Europe.

Relax. The person on the video will soon hit on the Brechtian solution – normies are the root of the problem and must be replaced with new normies.
Whoops ! That’s getting close to Tommy-talk.
I rather suspect that such was the topic of conversation inside Whitehall during the march.
Subotai Bahadur
Your march and our assassination are going to get the same treatment by our “leaders.”
They’re going to sit back quietly and not push anything, on the theory that the Right can’t sustain anger for more than a few days, that we’re all normies and have lives to run, that once we get it out of our system everything will quiet down, that our rage will just dissipate.
In the past, they’d be correct.
Any positive result will depend on that not being true anymore.
So, we’ll see,
I watched my favourite vlogger on Youtube and was really impressed with how relaxed the crowds seemed. There were enough there to cause the Police real problems, but it was wonderfully relaxed. I was both amused and disgusted in reading the online Guardian to find that I had been watching thousands of Far Right protestors being Racist and wanting their country back.
From the other side of the world (New Zealand ) keep up the good work.
The number of people at the Unite the Kingdom event were vastly underestimated by the media – and the amount of “trouble” vastly inflated in the coverage. As Simon Webb (“History Debunked” on YouTube – before he is removed) points out – the amount of “trouble” at the event was less (vastly less) than at the Notting Hill Carnival – an event the BBC, Sky News (and so on) SUPPORT.
Even supposedly “right wing” news outlets were hard at work with the disinformation campaign against the Unite the Kingdom event.
The good news is that most people no longer believe the media – including the supposedly “right wing” media, as most people know that the media (whatever their official position) serve the “liberal” establishment. And, to be fair to the media, if they did not serve the establishment they, the media, would be closed down under the various statutes (“laws”) that have been passed over the last 60 years.
Perhaps it is too late, I do not know, but the British people have woken up and understood that their rulers are taking the country away from them, that the ruling establishment wishes to destroy the British people.
Meanwhile GB News this morning, is suggesting that all will be well if Sir Keir Starmer is replaced by Andrew Burnham – because he is “from the north”, “connects with voters” and blah, blah, blah…..
This shows that even some people on “right wing” news outlets have not got a clue about what is happening in the country.
Is Kipling replacing Orwell as a predictor of events?
When protesting in UK, it is essential to turn up with enough people to keep the police from kicking off (I am not joking).
I see that Spanner has been tweeting that the right must not misuse he Union Flag, because it is a symbol of our diversity (yawn). As he is allegedly a lawyer, I would have expected him to have some facility with the English language. It takes quite a razor sharp legal mind to turn something which is explicitly a symbol of unity into one of diversity. The clue is in the name.
If this is how his mind works, no wonder he got so confused about Peter Mandelson.
JohnK – Sir Keir went beyond that, he said that the English flag, the blood red cross on a white background (field), must not be used as symbol of violence.
That is rather odd – because it, the red cross on a white field, is a Battle Banner, adopted from the Knights Templar, and is, from its first use, been about fighting Islam. The Union flag is also a battle banner, and has been for centuries – all national flags are, but the Union flag was NOT explicitly about fighting Islam when created in 1801 (it was about fighting any enemy).
“This battle banner should not be associated with violence” – is that what Sir Keir is saying?
And if a people can not defend their own country (NOT like Richard the Lionheart charge off to the Middle East – but rather defend England itself – no one is arguing for misguided absurdities such as the Iraq and Afghan wars) then what are they supposed to do?
Are the English just supposed to die, without any resistance?
Again this is NOT about going off to the Middle East – it is about keeping their own country.
…it is about keeping their own country.
Coincidentally, YouTube’s algorithm this evening thought I might be interested in this protest song. Its lyrics hardly rise to Ira Gershwin level. Some of the rhymes are more than a little forced. But it is catchy and ear-wormy. I hear a bit of both Springsteen and Runrig in it. It’s worth a listen.
I had very low expectations about that march, partly because street protests are rarely an effective political tool, and also more specifically because other previous demonstrations TR organised have turned into fiascos. Must admit though this was a very impressive turnout and it was heartening to see even the Guardian and Diane Abbott being forced to admit the renta-leftist stooges that are ‘Stand up to Racism’ counter protesters were outnumbered 20 to 1. That they looked almost entirely bohemian-bourgeoisie and had very few Muslims or other minorities is very curious indeed.
“alarmingly black faces”. Hilarious!
Good comments – well done people.
I can think of nothing to add.
We must be reading different main stream media. All i see is “far right”.
You seem to have missed the point I am making. Yes, that is indeed what the MSM are saying, but what is “alarming” to the establishment is the claim is the claims are no longer plausible, the very words far-right, racist & fascist denatured to the point large numbers of “normal” people turn up regardless of the MSM using the magic words.
Yes Perry – most people no longer believe the lies of the “mainstream media”.
It has been a long process to get to the point where most people know that the establishment, including the media, is lying to them – but we have reached that point now.
