Samizdata quote of the day

What’s the difference between Jim Davidson and Frankie Boyle?

One is reviled as a right-wing Tory and thus an obvious racist whilst the other is an ardent far-lefist whose jokes about black mentally handicapped babies are not racist but absolutely hilarious and the sign of comic genius.

BOOM BOOM!!

Plus Boyle is frequently on the BBC. Do not underestimate the ‘cleansing ‘ power this has for him with the Left.

Boyle is ona list of perhaps two or three people I would happily beat senseless with a cricket bat. A truly world class cunt who has made an explicit decision to be do and who prospers greatly from it.

How are we to supposed to know the difference between “a right-wing Tory” and “an ardent far-leftist”?
Apparently, even when they say the same thing, we are supposed to interpret it differently; so we are supposed to distinguish by their labels? self-applied labels, or applied by whom?

A very English attitude: the rest of the world would prefer a baseball bat.

    Snorri Godhi,
In Boganstan pick handles are the preferred option.

“A truly world class cunt who has made an explicit decision to be do and who prospers greatly from it.”

Who has the nerve to call Jeremy Clarkson a “social cancer.” In regards to his “joke” about Jordan’s handicapped son, Boyle recently said, “I’m not going to apologise for a joke I made five years ago. There are more important things to worry about.”

Yet Boyle called Jeremy Clarkson a “social cancer” a few days ago because Clarkson mumbled the dreaded “N” word in a totally innocuous and jokey fashion about five years ago!

Ah, I see Frankie, so THIS is one of the more important things we should be worried about.

A “truly world class cunt” indeed…

They’re both cnuts. It’s just that one’s a funny cnut and the other one ain’t.

Yes – it is not racism if the left do it.

And it is not “war on women” if they left do it either.

Mrs Palin can be savagely mocked and attacked (for years) – not “war on women”.

People such as Michelle Malkin (and many others) can be threatened rape – not “war on women”.

Even television series aimed at children, such as “True Blood”, can have a women chained to a wall (to be raped and abused till she goes insane) for three years (last episode) and it is fine – because it is “just a joke”.

Would a television series that had Michelle Obama chained to a wall for years (to be raped and abused) be considered wonderful?

    The lesson is obvious.

It is all right to attack black people – as long as they are conservative black people (such as Justice Thomas).

And it is fine (indeed good fun) to rape women – as long as they are conservative women.

That is what the young (the High School students and so on) are being taught.

Having seen Jim Davidson live at a dinner, he is pretty racist. And he’s not really very funny either.

I should qualify my statement with an example – walking up to a table of people of lots of different racial backgrounds with the line “what’s this, the fucking united nations table?” was in fairly poor taste in my view.

A relative who didn’t really know me very well gave me a copy of Frankie Boyle’s book as a Christmas present.

I was bored one day so read it. Throughout it he keeps saying how stupid other people are and how intelligent he is, but he gives absolutely no evidence or justification for it.

He’s a rather tedious one-trick pony comedian. The writers of Viz do a far better job of the “outrageous” thing and are far funnier.

I think Davidson and Boyle are both creeps, but find both funny. Especially Boyle. His politics are ludicrous, and he is an incredible hypocrite, but he is funny in a sort of deranged way. (Typical Scotsman then.)

    >walking up to a table of people of lots of different racial backgrounds with the line “what’s this, the fucking united nations table?” was in fairly poor taste in my view.

The taste doesn’t worry me. It’s just that the joke is outdated by at least twenty-five years.

    “…black mentally handicapped babies….”
I guess that means …retarded negro babies?
Wait…wait, is that “black” as in African, American, Mexican, Assorted island, English, Australian,…..I get soooo confused.
