Doing the laundry never was so colourful

Introducing the world’s grooviest washing machine. Mind you, ironing is still going to be a chore. (Hat-tip: Gizmondo).

Didn’t they just stop making it?

  • Thats been around for ages. Why post it now?
    As to the Ironing…

    I’ll take one please.

  • Yeah, I saw this at least five years back, and I heard soon afterwards that sales had been poor. Given the price tag, I’m not surprised. Why, you could simply give the wife a bar of soap, a large tub, and a washboard and save yourself a grand and a half.

Oh well, I guess Gizmondo are not quite so up to date as I thought. Better let the editors of that site know!

    Johnathon,

Where have you been for the last few years? John Lewis and other retailers have been selling these for years, but they have recently been discontinued due to poor sales and unreliability.

Rumour has it that Dyson is working on a new design but no-one knows whether and when it will be introduced.

  • On the eve of Mr Robb’s release today of a discussion paper on a new citizenship test, the chairman of the Government’s Muslim Reference Group, Dr Ameer Ali, said Opposition Leader Kim Beazley’s idea of a values test was silly, as was the need for a universal English test.

He called for an orientation program for new migrants akin to a university student’s orientation week.

An “orientation week”? Citizenship isn’t SUMMER CAMP, Ameer. Its not a weeks seminar on how to get around and where all the best government cheese is distributed.

I’ve got a better idea. I’ll write the curriculum for Aussie Citizenship:

English proficiency tested by an ability to pick up a bikini clad Shiela on Bondi Beach after wrestling an alligator, barbecuing and eating shrimp n chips, and chugging a six of Fosters. They then need to feed a koala, box a kangaroo, and play a diggery-doo.

Muslim ladies must demonstrate an ability to surf, shag a beer sodden bloke hot and sweaty from driving across the outback a herd of sheep, pop bottle caps without an implement, and have the tan from subathing topless for at least a week (i.e. no tan lines around the face or neck or wrists…).

That should keep them in school for at least a few months…

Leave the burhkas and other silly headwear in the tent.

Mike, keep the posts on-topic, please. I can sense the editors sharpening their knives…….

We got one of these unique(?) design washers for the sake of our septic system. It’s a top load horizontal axis. Our water use dropped from about 55 gallons per load to about 14, the loads are bigger, the clothes are cleaner and seem to last longer, and instead of a whole scoop of soap, it uses about an ounce. We’ve had it for a little over a year and are very happy with it.

I just wish there was some way to see inside it while it’s washing.

    Am I bored, or what?

    This is really sad.

    🙁

I know. I’ll go and see what’s on Samizdata.

    Oh. This is Samizdata.

    Time for bed.
