Samizdata slogan of the day

I always thought Burke’s metaphor of the English oxen ignoring the buzzing political insects was a good thing, however in the present situation placidity in the doorway of the abattoir may not be a virtue.

I have no right, really, to decry what The good
people of the UK are allowing to happen to them,
but as an older fellow, I am saddened to see it
happening. I don’t know how many years I may have left, but – so long as the ticker ticks – I will
hold in my heart the memory of the England that
was. I hope that other Americans, younger than I, will do likewise. I get the impression that none of you in the UK care much about it, either way.
