The success of gun-control

A police officer was shot and seriously wounded after stopping a motorist in North London.

In the West Midlands, two men have been fatally shot in separate incidents.

Just what is wrong with these people? Don’t they know that guns are supposed to be banned in Britain?

You are an idiot! It is only legally held firearms that were banned. The illegally held weapons were going to be banned as well, but this was averted by inspired lobbying by sinn feign.

Um, Zack, how does one ‘ban’ illegally held weapons?

That was my point, that the weapons that generally cause the death and destruction are usually the ones held illegally. A gun ban serves mostly to inconvenience the law abiding.
Okay, there are instances where a law abiding gun owner goes crazy ape bonkers and slaughters as many people as he can hurl lead at, but this is not very common. Tragic, but not common. There are many murders committed without the aid of a firearm.
I was hoping that my light-hearted response echoed the original post in tone and that my opening “you are an idiot” phrase would cause amusement in conjunction with the rest of my posting as it is clear that I am the idiot since you can’t easily ban illegally held weapons.
