We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Stripping for Saddam

I think we may have finally found a justification for burqas.

  • David,

Quite disturbing. Fortunately, there’s a soft, fuzzy haze in the photo preventing any focus on the gory details.

  • Not quite fuzzy enough, methinks!

Any good graphics application would permit of finagling the pixels to quite clear definition, but who would want to!.

Ah, the fond memories of rock concerts past…..

Don’t be such spoil sports. I’ll bet they had fun and its’ a cute idea even if I disagree.

Trouble is, what with the climate and the lengthiness of “UP YOURS SADDAM”, I don’t think the idea would translate well to the UK.

I’d not disparage unless I could get a better looking group together in a field. I’d say something about glass houses and all that, but somehow the image of a glass house doesn’t quite seem to express the right concept, given the photo.

BTW: Anyone besides myself been to Blacks Beach, San Diego?

I personally am outraged that there are no women of color anywhere in this photo. Nothing but pasty white women, similar to those found in grainy porno pics from a 19th-century saloon wall. I thought the “Peace Movement” included women from “all walks of life”, not just spoiled University types.

Speaking of Black’s Beach, I never went, but several of my Marine Corps buddies did. In those pre-HIV days, they had a rollicking good time.

I guess the anti-war movement does have some redeeming social value after all. Perhaps Britney Spears will go peacenik on us.

Blacks Beach: Many a year ago I was taken there by a friend while I was visiting. It was the first time I ever bought a peanut butter and jelly sandwich from a naked sales lady. Lovely spot. I understand the statists have fairly recently made clothes mandatory there.

Did you do the shore hike or the cliff descent like I did? I was told there used to be a sign on the shore route that said “Municpal Beach: Swimsuit Optional Zone”.

Never saw it myself though. Always did the rock climb/hike route.

If these ladies wish to remove their clothes that is up to them.

However, I do not like the lies. “Tens of thousands of civilians killed by American bombs and sanctions” – I guess this really means the tens of thousands of civilians killed by Saddam. As for “sactions” this can only mean the international sanctions (which do not include sanctions on either food or medicines).

If the ladies wish to end sanctions and wish to stop Iraq getting into any more wars they should support getting rid of Saddam.

  • What do you suppose Saddam would do to them if they were in Iraq?

I’d say it’s a tossup between napalm and phosphorus.
