Pro-capitalism demo in Paris

Sunday 1st December starting 2:30pm from the place de la Bastille, a hundred French Libertarians intend to march on the Ministry of Finance at the quai de Bercy (about 2kms). I intend to join them and will be making a collection for the costs of the demo (hand-bills, megaphone, banners, hire-cars, etc.).

Last year 60 were expected and over 200 sympathisers turned up, after the Paris daily “Le Figaro” had carried a mention of the march on the front page the day before. The event is part of the world-wide walk for capitalism. I’m unaware of any plans for a march in London on that day, perhaps organisers could post details to Samizdata.

  • So you’re saying there’s some hope?

  • I dunno. Capitalists are much more likely to drive or take a cab than march …

What?!?!?!?!?!!? A pro-reality march in Paris of all places? Shurely shome mishtake!

Nah, we can’t afford cabs anymore. Socialists have IMPOVERISHED us so much we’re a VICTIM CLASS.

    Yeah, that’s the ticket!

  • Mightn’t the French believe a little less in the glory of their republic if it had not been rescued so often by English-speaking countries?

French people are rational to think their state will rescue and protect them as individuals, because so far their state has never had to pay the price for indulging its own people and getting other states to fund this. Once France’s state has to face the consequences of its behaviour and become more self-reliant, individual French people will quickly see the need to face the consequences of their behavious and the value of becoming more self-reliant.

In a way it’s ultimately our fault for overindulging them.

  • If there is a march in London, I’ll certainly come and join in. (Actually, it is almost worth going to Paris for).

A march by 200 pro-capitalists in France? That was every last one of them in the country, wasn’t it?

Yeah I wish I could join in this demonstration to celebrate exploitation and the undermining of human freedom, I’m so glad capitalism exsists just imagine without it there would be terrible things like equality and happiness, thank God we defeated those devil worshiping socialists who want to promote humane things like equality, how pathetic just imagine everyone equal and the crime rate dropping what a terrible dystopia.
