Cause for concern?

Following Home Secretary David Blunkett‘s confused apocalyptic warning yesterday about the threat of an Al Qaeda attack on the UK, which was then quickly retracted, earlier today on News Direct 97.3 FM radio, I caught a fragment of some UK government warning about a “credible threat of an attack against London” and “poison gas” was mentioned. However I have not heard a blessed thing since then. Is this something new? Is it a retraction of yesterday’s retraction? Did any one else hear more of this and get any details?

Is it just a coincidence that there has been an astonishing number of military helicopters (mostly Pumas and a couple Chinooks) flying over my house throughout the day?

Hmmmm.

Saw a pair in formation circling around here yesterday on the way to the grocery store… but then, this is Belfast so that’s like saying “It was raining”.

I should think the UK is on the enemy hitlist. Why, they’ve hit the Yanks, Aussies, Frogs, Jews, Africans, Ruski’s… we’re positively left out here. You’d think they don’t hate us anymore!

  • Sounds like your Home Secretary is taking cues from the FBI. They issued so many false alarms in the past year it was ridiculous–people would only pay attention to them to make jokes.

Seems that the linked article is now down or has also been pulled?

This is all a bit strange. Is the alleged threat groundless or is there a reluctance to issue any sort of warning lest panic ensues?

  • Bah, probably just trying to keep up with NYC. They have had a couple of cases of Bubonic Plague here this week (thanks to a couple from Arizona). Pimlico has helicopters over it all the time these days…there black too1

Yes, there might be cause for concern. Bali bomb was to kill Americans (not Ozzies, sorry about that – which doesn’t make much sense since as far as I know, Bali isn’t as popular as Mexico. Where would you go to find more infidel Americans?)

Now that we’re into effectively endgame on Iraq, they’re supposedly mobilizing and going to hit many targets.
