We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata quote of the day

The sundry Communist regimes coddled and celebrated by the American Left managed to kill something on the order of 100 million people during the 20th century. Consider that a lesson unlearnt: In our own time, the anti-fracking movement does the bidding of ex-KGB boss Vladimir Putin’s regime, and so-called progressives such as Thom Hartmann are quite pleased to work hand-in-glove with a Kremlin-backed propaganda network. Things will come to a bad end in Venezuela. Sean Penn won’t be there for it, and neither will Chaka Fattah. Perhaps the ghost of Walter Duranty will file a report.

Do not forget the massive backing for the anti “fracking” movement from Al Jazeera.

The network funded by the regime in Qatar that did not create ISIS – not even slightly, and spends its time campaigning for “Social Justice” around the world and denouncing such countries as Egypt (which do not sit on vast amounts of oil and gas) for being too pro “big business corporations” and not respecting “workers rights”.

If you want to know how the Islamist terrorist groups (such as the Muslim Brotherhood) can work with Latin American atheist Marxists – then watch Al Jazeera, “Social Justice” (and hatred of “big business” and the United States) is what they all have in common.

    As for Venezuela…..

The Obama Administration is embarrassed by the results of “Social Justice” in Venezuela – namely economic collapse and political tyranny.

However, following the same policies more slowly (as Mr Obama has) will not change the end result.

Fabian socialism leads to the same place as Revolutionary socialism.

Indeed the Fabians – H.G. Wells, George Bernard Shaw, Mr and Mrs Webb…. ended up supporting the Soviet regime. A regime that murdered tens of millions (whilst they were supporting it) and made the Venezuelan regime look like Boy Scouts.

At least the Fabians were consistent – they did not shy away from the results of social justice and say “this is nothing to do with me”.

Either you believe that income and wealth belong to the “the people” (the collective) or you do not.

If you believe in “Social Justice”, the doctrine of the hunter-gather pack, the gang of raiders, then do not pretend to be upset about the results.

In Venezuela or the United States.

It is not consistent to say “I want Social Justice – but I want civilisation as well”.

One might as well say “I want a cat – as long as it barks”.

    Paul,
Israel, China and Apartheid-era South Africa apparently collaberated to develop nuke weapons. So, the strangest bed-fellows and all that. The enemy of our enemy is our friend. It really is as simple as that. Anyway, I saw social justice on the streets of Manchester whilst shopping today. I saw the homeless. Dear Gods! That is Paul, I think that is where you are going.

NickM…..it wasn’t China (The People’s Republic of China aka PRC), it was Taiwan (The Republic of China aka ROC)……not the same.

“Things will come to a bad end in Venezuela. Sean Penn won’t be there for it…”

Which is a pity. People like Sean Penn badly need to experience socialism in all its varied wonderfulness, not only as an education but as a repayment for their efforts on its behalf. 😉

‘The Obama Administration is embarrassed by the results of “Social Justice” in Venezuela – namely economic collapse and political tyranny.’
Um, Sorry, the ‘Obama administration’ is not nor has it ever been embarrassed about ANYTHING. There is no guilt. They have no shame, ethics or compassion for anyone or anything besides themselves.
They just tell more, bigger, and more outlandish lies to attain their goals and NEVER look back because most people do not look back
    either !

Well I TRIED to explain why I never buy adulterated auto fuel from Citgo stations.
It usually gets the same blank stares when I decline to pay for Canadiam liqueur.
We have this “thing” in New England where Canadian “interests” want to run wires through
New Hampshire, PAST the “new” Iberian mountain top windmills, past the soon to be decommissioned nuclear reactor (AND the one that was “never used” yet shows up on electric bills as “stranded energy costs”) to Massachusetts to address the “impending” energy “crisis” THERE.
Well, once upon a time, folks wanted to erect a wind farm off the shores of the Kennedy Compound, known to SOME as “Camelot”….
SOME of us are old enough, and “stable” enough, to remember the allegories we learned as children.

Ooops…”Seagram’s Canadian liquer”, but other “brands” as well I suspect.
