Brian’s old blogs

Brian Micklethwait’s blogs fell off the internet a while back for reasons not entirely clear. Some of them I had scraped, and have now republished on the Brian Micklethwait Archive site.

For now we have:

I am hoping to add Brian Micklethwait’s New Blog at some point.

Navigation might not be ideal right now, but all the posts are there. Searchability should appear over the next few days.

I have more to say about how the conversion from dynamic blog site to static archive was achieved: coming soon.

Thank you, Rob, for the work you have done on this. It only took a few seconds of almost random re-reading of the first few entries on Brian’s New Education Blog to remind myself of the incredible concentration of good, useful and interesting thoughts in Brian’s writing.

  • Paul Marks.

Rob Fisher – thank you for your work.

Brian Micklethwait was a great man – he should not be forgotten.

And what happened to Dale Amon. He used to comment regularly on science and technology.

Nicholas – I believe that Dale Amon is working hard on private enterprise space travel.

    Very important work indeed.

Thanks for this Rob. I appreciate that with things like this there are always complications and time-consuming fiddly bits.

I hope that searchability returns soon. I have been searching for a Brian quote about Beethoven saying something rude about the then-King and not going to jail “because he was Beethoven”. I doesn’t seem to be here so I guess it is somewhere in the archive.

Thanks, Paul. A shame- his articles were interesting.

Nicholas – perhaps one day you will be one of his passengers!

The aim is to make space travel affordable.

    Duncan Stewart – thank you.

Brian’s architectural interests on his main blog are fascinating to read. The February 17th 2008 entry on The Shard and doubts over whether it will be built or not are a fascinating timesnap from 18 years ago.
