Samizdata quote of the day – those who betrayed truth for comfort and career advancement

The sudden resignations this week of BBC director-general Tim Davie and CEO of news Deborah Turness has focussed minds on the role of the media. It has been startling – and grimly predictable – to watch senior figures at the BBC scrambling to defend their failures by muttering darkly about ‘right-wing conspiracies’ and ‘inside jobs’. Few, if any, have paused to consider whether the real problem might be their own cowardice.

The same rot runs through mainstream media across the world. In Ireland, I’ve met too many well-paid figures at RTÉ, the Irish Times and the Irish Independent who seem serenely proud of their refusal to touch anything remotely controversial. I call it Hugh Linehan syndrome, since, as duty editor of the Irish Times and host of the popular Inside Politics podcast, he appears to be particularly self-satisfied, even self-righteous, about his ability to avoid difficult issues.

The intellectual corruption is indeed present in Ireland just as it is in Britain – and the resignation of a few individuals will achieve little or nothing, there have been many replacements of personal at the BBC over many years – and the leftist bias continued. indeed got worse and worse. The BBC Tax “License Fee” must be ended – and so must the institutionally biased “Ofcom” “regulator” of television (and, increasingly, the internet).

There is a whole international “educated” class that has rejected truth and embraced lies and evil – and the word “evil” is not too strong. For example, as far away as Chile (which had Parliamentary and the first round of its Presidential elections yesterday) both the “Liberal Party” and the “Christian Democratic Party” were in alliance with the Communist Party – the Communist Party, Marxism being based on stealing everything (industry, farms, everything) and being responsible for at least 100 million deaths over the last century.

This shows the moral bankruptcy of the “New Liberalism” – which has nothing in common with the liberalism of Prime Minister Gladstone of John Bright, and of post Vatican Two “Christian Democracy” (very different from what this movement started off as) which is now exposed as thinly disguised “Fellow Travelling” with Marxism under “Liberation Theology” – which does NOT believe in individual survival after death (it believes in “Collective Salvation”) and, privately, holds God to be a “metaphor for a better society” – this “better society” turning out to be the nightmare of Collectivism, under the “Social Justice” concept – which inverts justice, as it worships plundering, theft.

The British and Irish establishment are not different to the one in far off Chile – they may NOT be formal Marxists, but when put to the test they side with the Marxists and aid them. The establishment is a clear and present danger to what is left of liberty and what is left of society – the establishment must be ended.

And this applies to the United States as well – see the very high percentage of young people (especially young women) who support the nightmare that is Collectivism, socialism. This is not some accident – it is the result of intense indoctrination by the lying education system and the lying media (including the entertainment media).

The establishment (education system, media, and, yes, much of the “mainline” churches as well) in the United States is as despicable as the establishment in Britain and Ireland – it is evil (actively evil) and it must be defeated.

Consider who the well paid media executives consider to be their rivals. Not the governments, not their viewers, but other well paid media executives. Progress up the greasy pole requires them to be non-controversial for those who determine their progress. A ‘safe pair of hands’ has a particular value within their in group. Government and viewers be damned.

  • Paul Marks.

By the way when a senior person (a very senior person) says “attitudes must change before doctrine can change” – they are really telling you that they do NOT believe in the doctrines that their church (or whatever) was created to teach, and that they support indoctrination to “change attitudes”.

Infiltration is not just a matter of infiltrating governments – infiltration can be of any organization. And when people behave in a way that indicates they do not believe in the doctrines (principles) their organisation was created to support (for example they sexually abuse children – whilst belonging to an organisation that teaches that people who sexually abuse children go to Hell), it-is-just-that, they do NOT believe in these principles. Indeed they may (perhaps) have entered the organisation in order to subvert.

Discovered Joys – being “non-controversial”, being “a safe pair of hands” now means (and has meant for many decades) supporting a campaign of lies (lies about history, about economics, about society, about culture) designed to promote international Collectivism (international “governance”) – perhaps NOT on the strict Marxist model – but still tyranny, still utterly evil.

It is not acceptable, and it is clear that the establishment (whether in Britain, or Ireland – or wherever) can not be reformed – it must be defeated. It must be destroyed.

It will be interesting to see who the Economist magazine (and it is a magazine – that is a physical fact) supports in the second round of the Presidential election in Chile.

If they support the Communist candidate then the mask will be totally off – and their totalitarianism will be undeniable, so I do not believe they will do that (as to do so would destroy what is left of their credibility as a “free market” publication), but I do not believe they will support the Conservative candidate either – as he stands totally against their agenda of subverting (undermining) what is left of society (not just in Chile – but internationally, in Britain, Ireland, America, and so on).

I suspect they will fudge – and not support either candidate, but we shall have to see.

“And who would you have supported Mr Marks” – I would have voted for the Libertarian Party candidate in the first round of the election, and would now (for the second round) support the Conservative (Republican Party) candidate.

  • RTÉ were such a miserable bunch of bastards that they banned Dave Allen from Irish telly except for his appearances on The Late Late Show, where he was interviewed by Gay Byrne.

That’s why the British saw more of Dave Allen than the Irish did.

Lions are too good for them.

    Sharks with laser beams!

A “safe pair of hands” was how Teresa May described herself. Even then it was questionable whether the majority of a desperately poor crop of MP’s would have supported her hence the timely intervention by an establishment media causing her last opponent to drop out of the leadership contest.

Would Andrea Leadsom have been any better? In my opinion it is inconceivable she could have been worse. Instead the fish-faced cow promptly set about undermining the referendum result with the zest and spitefulness of an unloved school bully.

History has been undeservedly kind to her in that her predecessor and successors have been nearly as loathsome and traitorous albeit each possessing a degree of charm and ability well in excess of her own.

  • Paul Marks.

John – yes Theresa May (not be be confused with Teresa May – a porn actress who, as far as I know, never harmed anyone) was a typical member of the international establishment – “elected” leader of the Conservative Party in a North Korean style “election” – only one candidate put to the membership.

I remember her bizarre taste in ornament – flaunting jewelry (and so on) designed by a Mexican Marxist to show her, Theresa May’s, commitment to the “Social Justice” concept – i.e. the inversion of justice, the worship of plundering (theft).

I would say that the lady was “almost a parody” – but, upon reflection, I think the lady was a parody – perhaps escaped from a “Peter Simple” column.

I voted for trump but whatever the Beeb’s faults, the trump dossier isn’t. I’ve read the transcript of trump’s address as well as the accusations against the beeb.Trump’s speech was a river of inflammatory language. A few words about being peaceful doesn’t change that. The BEEB did nothing wrong in this case. Trump’s entire speech, save “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” was a call to war. As one who campaigned locally for trump, i can assure you, that was the message his red hats took away.

  • John

    Thank you Paul.

How splendid, I never knew there was a politician as well.

  • Trump’s entire speech, save “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.” was a call to war.

That lie would work better on a blog that hadn’t posted excerpts of Trump’s speech two weeks ago.

If you think everything else in that speech a “call to war”, then you think everything is a call to war.

Then again, a fellow who shares your name seems to think that the part about “peacefully and patriotically” came “after the crowd was amped up”, even though there was about fifty minutes of speech after the part you’re willing to admit was “being peaceful”.

  • Paul Marks.

    “willfull knowledge”.

The 2020 Presidential Election was rigged – but you seem seem to have no moral problem with election fraud.

As for entering the Capitol Building – that was the idea of Mr Ray Epps and other servants of government agencies, but you do not seem to have a problem with the government security agencies doing that. Nor do you have a problem with them leaving a pipe-bomb outside the Democratic National Committee – and trying to blame President Trump for what they, his enemies, had done.

As for “inflammatory language” – there had been years of that from the establishment, indeed a tidal wave of lies and appeals for violence. “A call to war” – like the endless rioting, looting and murder (including the murder of black people – such as Captain Dorn), encouraged by the Democrats and the media (but I repeat myself – for the media are part of the Democrats) after Mr George Floyd unintentionally killed himself with drugs – for which people (who had nothing to do with the drugs Mr Floyd died of) were put in prison by corrupt courts, to be cut up with knives.

There had been rioting in Washington D.C. for weeks before January 6th 2021 – and the media supported this rioting. And, I repeat, the people who urged other people to enter the Capital building on January 6th 2021 were working for the security agencies (as were the people in masks – conservatives do not tend to wear masks, we do not tend to hide who we are) – they may have been wearing “red hats” but they certainly were NOT friends of President Trump.

“Joseph “The Big Guy” Biden got 81 million votes”.

He did indeed – but NOT from 81 million voters.

  • bobby b

“Trump’s speech was a river of inflammatory language.”

To a certain extent, ALL of Trump’s speeches are inflammatory. But in the way that you mean – that’s not true at all.

I picture you as someone still arguing that his “very fine people” quote was referencing the Nazis in attendance.

  • willful knowledge

I suggest you improve your reading comprehension beyond the first grade. You’re apparently one of those trump bragged about when he said, “I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn’t lose voters,”. As General James Mattis said,”“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people – does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” “.

  • willful knowledge

    Keep drinking the kool-aid paul.

  • willful knowledge

Trump strives to be inflammatory bobby.

  • bobby b

“As General James Mattis said,”“Donald Trump is the first president in my lifetime who does not try to unite the American people – does not even pretend to try. Instead, he tries to divide us,” “.”

Presumably, Mattis slept through Obama and Biden.

I’ve often wondered why, in a country with 400 million firearms, people came to the Capitol intent on insurrection and didn’t bring their guns. Are we sure insurrection is the right word? According to the enigmatic George Galloway it was no different to Sauchiehall street on a saturday night after the pubs kick out.

  • Paul Marks.

wilful knowledge – as before you invert the truth.

The person who urged his followers to drink the poisoned drink was not a conservative – he was a leftist “Social Justice” person who had been praised by the leading Democrats of California.

Do you ever tell the truth about anything?

As for a President who tried to “divide the American people” – that would be Barack Obama, who spent years promoting racial tensions, in order to push the Frankfurt School (“Critical Theory”) agenda to which he had been committed all his adult life – even as a child being educated in it (by his own mother – as well as by family friends – such as Frank Marshall Davis), and then carrying on in this indoctrination in Occidental and other universities.

It should be stressed that Barack Obama did NOT really believe in racial doctrines (that black people were exploited and oppressed) – he believed these doctrines were useful, in order to undermine “capitalist” American society.

Sadly people with this agenda are Legion in academia.

  • Paul Marks.

“Time marches on” – and what Barack Obama (dishonestly) denied being, and which the media (and the rest of the establishment) helped him cover up – and viciously attack anyone who told the truth, is now openly admitted by a new generation of politicians – for example the newly elected Mayor of Seattle.

The “mask” is off – although Marxist terrorists, such as Antifa, still tend to wear physical masks.

Even Barack Obama is becoming more open with age – for example his endorsement of Mr Mamdani to be Mayor of New York City (the Governor of New York State also endorsed this evil person).

The enemy is no longer trying to hide what it is – it has revealed itself in all its evil.

  • Paul Marks.

    rhoda klapp.

Some people on January 6th 2021 had firearms – and used them to murder at least one unarmed person.

But the people with the firearms, and who used them, were on the other side.

We live in an age where if a man, unintentionally, kills himself with drugs – policemen are sent to prison (to be cut up with knives) even though they had nothing to do with the drugs the man died from.

But if a policeman shoots dead an unarmed women (a small business owner and air force veteran) they receive no punishment at all.

Nor is it is just a matter of January 6th or of Washington D.C. – for example in Minneapolis a few years ago a policeman (an immigrant – someone who should not have been in the United States) shot dead a women, the woman had done nothing wrong (she was a tourist – from, I believe, Australia) and the shooting was not an accident – it was quite deliberate.

No riots across the world, no fake tears from clerics in churches, no angry condemnation by the media and academia, no schools organizing indoctrination of children about the matter.

This was because the woman was white and the policeman was black – and, therefore, the case could not be used to push the Frankfurt School of Marxism “Critical Theory” agenda.

Of course white people can be useful – for example Mr Ray Epps and other stooges of the government, who urged people to enter the Capitol building on January 6th 2021.

Notice that “willfil knowledge” does not suggest that Mr Ray Epps, and the other stooges of the government, be sent to prison.

Nor does “willfil knowledge” express any interest in who left the pipe bomb outside the Democratic National Committee building.

I have on more than one occasion suggested that anyone who believes Biden’s astonishing tally of 81 million votes was a one-off should look long and hard at the turnout for the recent New Jersey gubernatorial race.

I fear for the mid-terms. Lessons do not appear to have been learned.
