The jewel in the crown of Samizdata.net
A blog for people with a critically rational individualist perspective. We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR

Yes, I was briefly an Explorer Scout... but that's not what I'm writing about.

Given the article posted by Natalie I think Samizdata needs to think ahead of the Statist curve. I too find this so far beyond my worst nightmares that I am near speechless - or whatever one calls the blogged word.

If anyone out there has their own server on a high bandwidth link and could work with Samizdata.net to set up a mirror and in the worst case scenario, free hosting, it would be much appreciated.

Here, for the Infidels, I repeat The Holy Word of The Goddess Liberty, (Praised be Her Name!) which I Worship above All Others and whose Word is not respected in the UK:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

- US 1st Amendment

So take this Tranzi Scum!:

Victory to Israel! Hang Saddam! Shoot the Guantanamo terrorists! A HARM in every Al Qaeda's SUV! Nuke the Chechens! The only good al Qaeda is a Dead al Qaeda.

Thank you for your kind patience.

If the US ever goes along with this treaty, I may be posting a notice on my blog reading "Will Defect For Food."

Maybe I should start learning to speak Estonian.

It wasn't a HARM (High speed Anti-Radiation Missile) that sent the jihad screaming bastards to hell in small pieces. The Hellfire is an AGMS (Air to Ground Missile System).

Oh, and to continue the political incorectness- CIVILIZE THEM WITH AN M-16!

How about simply: round up everyone at the Finsbury Park mosque and make them take a few undergraduate level Western Civilization classes? Does that count as hate speech, making them read Burke and Locke and Hume? Actually, would any of them have been safe?

Posted by Mike G at November 21, 2002 05:02 PM

....Plus the HARM is too expensive to waste on 'em! Hellfires and Mavericks are good enough.

My military friends in the region have started to call the al Qaeda by a new nickname.

"TARGETS"

But if I used a different type of missile... I couldn't say I wanted to... put them in a HARM's way.

*sigh* the link 'posted by Natalie' does not work, it pops up a message telling me to download something. What am I doing wrong here?

My parents emigrated from the UK to the US and I become more and more thankful that they did every time I hear things like this. The British government has disarmed the citizenry and virtually outlawed the right of self defense. It is gradually surrendering your sovereignty to the unelected bureaucrats of the EU and now it tries to muzzle free speech.

How depressing it is to think that the country I once thought I might like to move back to has gone so far adrift from the principals of liberty and freedom. Even Singapore would not come down this hard on this man for what he said.

No idea about the link. Works for me.

To Camille: if you are not a registered "member", it may well be that, when trying to access prior issues, the newspaper wants a reader to register, first.

Alan Henderson: Already heard that Congress (through the speaker I believe) said it was not about to go along with anything from anywhere that attempts to abridge the 1st amendment. Perhaps someone has heard something similar on the news wires.

Dale, have you been reading too much Neal Stephenson (Ed. - can you read too much Neal Stephenson?)? If not, I feel worried.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

That's it... I'm here everyday after that rant... I thought there was no hope for the Empire ( common American arrogance ) but I'm wrong... keep fighting the good fight...

Posted by DANEgerus at November 22, 2002 03:08 AM

Richard Cook: I'm aware of that, but I'm worried about a future administration. A leftist president would gladly sign that treaty AND adopt "hate crime" laws like those in England and on American campuses. If the First Amendment won't stop Russ Feingold and John McCain from engineering an assault on private-sector political speech...

Posted by Alan K. Henderson at November 22, 2002 04:51 AM

Harry Browne & co are challenging it. They're going after the whole FEC at the Supreme Court level. Should be interesting.
Just one of the many things I've not had time to blog: I figured it would keep because it's still in early stages of the legal maneurvering.

But they have filed.

Anyone else notice that McCain-Fiengold is the MF Act?

Ironically, given the anti-leftist ire around this site, we might be able to turn to Noam Chomsky for help making trouble on this issue. Noam has always stood up for the right of people who disagree with him greatly to speak and opposes censorship of all forms, even when used against those he considers to be scum.
