Samizdata quote of the day

When travel writers start going on about how “vulgar” and “overdeveloped” Cuba is becoming, I’ll book my flights. So long as it is the favoured destination for the sort of people who wear silly T-shirts with pictures of mass murderers on them, I’ll be off to somewhere else instead.

  • That is the quote of the week!

It occurs to me that the comment about travel writers is mindful of music critics who will write that they used to think XYZ was a great band until they became popular. Say what?

I just want to go to Cuba for the music, which I expect will be just as good after travel writers write it off… and fuck that murderous psycho, Che, btw.

The quote is as fatuous when headlined here as when it popped up on the original thread

The most interesting comments in that discussion came from people who’ve had experience of Cuba, not those who hold their nose and keep their distance.
