Comments on Not much blogging tonight because...

Lovely ladies, a full bar and some intelligent conversation- sounds like heaven.

I'm insanely jealous.

there is a party celebrating a half century (not out)

So who's been in the closet for fifth years? ;-)

(Not that there's anything wrong with that....)

Happy birthday, Hippo! K and I are hitting the Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills tonight - there will definitely be a toast to you (and a cigar smoked by him in your honor).

When I first saw that hippo, I thought you folks had done something unspeakable to a live cat....

A half century? But you don't look a day over 49! :-B

J/K Happy birthday.

I thought the hippo with the bottle of bourbon in its mouth was pure class! Very nice evening.

Happy birthday mate.

Happy Birthday, Perry

I've been reading your blog regularly - doesn't seem that long ago that we were fagging in Leamington House.

Best wishes,
Patrick (Paddy)

Note to American readers, that doesn't mean what you think it does :-D

50. An excellent vintage. I can enjoy it for a little longer and then I will have to begin admitting to being 'in my fifth decade'. See, if you want to 'delay' a year, then use the ordinal rather than the cardinal ranges. That way, you can still say you are in your forth decade.

Of course, doing that is nothing more than a chronological comb-over and is about as easy to recognize. I guess just enjoy the round number. It is easy to remember when people ask. And around this age that begins to matter. After all, losing your memory is the second sign of old age. At the moment, I have forgotten the first sign. :-)

Also, celebrating birthdays is like voting in Chicago elections. Party early and party often. But it looks like you've got that part well under way.

Happy Birthday! I noticed the women in the forefront of the first picture has a fork and knife... but.... I don't see anything on her plate. What is she cutting exactly? haha.

All the best!
