So maybe I need an iPod after all...
Perry de Havilland (London)  Science & Technology

I have never felt the urge to buy an iPod as I am really not that interested in music-on-the-move, but maybe it is time for me to reconsider... I feel another overdue hunting trip to Central Europe coming on.

The I Ching says to tape your drop-and-deflection cards to the stock just like the rest of us. Hmmmph!

(Any plans to release it for PalmOS?)

Is it compatible with the AK47?

"Is it compatible with the AK47?"

Yeah, but it needs to download and run iRifles in order to swing DRM issues.

I don't think there are third-party weapons management apps yet.

What kind of rail mount to you attach an iphone/ipod touch to? I can't seem to find anything...

Posted by asommer at January 21, 2009 02:22 PM

Wot?!? No one makes an iRail? :-D

Posted by Perry de Havilland at January 21, 2009 03:04 PM

Well, SHOT just happened and supposedly Larue had some super-secret-squirrel Neat Stuff(TM). Maybe the mount was it?

Mounting an iPod/iPhone to a rail system seems daft to me.

5.11 do a nice watch with ballistic calculator:

Much better.

One company I used to work for had been involved in tendering for RFID activation/deactivation of firearms (handguns in this case). This involved a small circuit board in the butt of the gun. Apparently, it was very difficult to construct the circuit such that the it could withstand the shock of the recoil of the weapon. I don't think I'd be wanting to do this to a $2-400 ipod.
