But look at the brights side: in another two generations there may not be enough Europeans left to run the all-encompassing State. Perhaps then we could get a Texas Real-Estate developer in to see if he could do anything with the vacant property.

I remember seeing a Vulcan fly low over Heaton Park Air Show in Manchester in the early 70's. The most memorable part of the day though was getting a 50p in change instead of a 10p. The 40p extra enabled me and my freind to stuff ourselves stupid wth sweets.

I saw that DC3 Dale, it flew over Bristol the other week.
My mother was enthusing about the last Concorde at Filton being opened up to visits from the public.
I'd much prefer if it was still in the Ma, I said,
cos the inside really isn't very impressive.

I remember one of those venerable old ladies (before they were scrapped) at an airshow at RAF Biggin Hill in the late 70's. The pilot stood her on her tail and let the Olympus engines rip up the tarmac on runway 21.

They've started rehearsing for Farnborough this week. I wonder if the Vulcan might be invited. It would be good to see one here again.

I wonder if it might go to Fairford? A lot of the planes flying at Fairford seem to visit Brize Norton (not quite next door to me, but not very far).
A Vulcan would at least make the VC10s sound quieter! And I'd appreciate the free show (don't be jealous, but a couple of years ago I enjoyed a free rehearsal by the Red Arrows over Brize).

Raised under B-52's, I was nonetheless knocked-ass out when I saw the Vulcan at Barksdale AFB, c. '71. Nothin' like it, ever.

I disagree. Concorde shouldn't still be flying. It should long-ago been replaced by something even hotter. Christ, Barnes Wallis was proposing hypersonics in the 50s and the spaceplane concept goes back to Eugene Sanger in the 30s. And don't even mention Hotol/Skylon to me.

but when it was still flying there was an awareness of how far we have come and how much further we could go.
Now we seem to be going backwards.
How much co2 will that use?
