I'm pretty sure Mencken would have spelled it "favor." In 'merica we know how to keep our u's and zeds in their place.

We do not have a shortage of the letter u in the UK and so see no need to follow the strange American rationing practices.

Although he once called him a "stonehead" H.L.M. did admit that President Calivin Coolidge had all these qualities.
And, although President only by the death of Warren Harding (who was not the terrible President that the establishment historians state that he was), Calivin Coolidge not only ran for the office in 1924 he also won.

His "In Defense of Women" written in 1921 is great discussion of war, Treaty of Versailles and women...
"Women are the wildlife of a country. Morality corresponds to game laws"...
He is very quotable and fun to toss out at parties or sprinkle like capers over dinner...
