Auberon Waugh, journalist, novelist and son of the writer Evelyn Waugh. I once had the pleasure of chatting to Auberon for a long time at a party and reflected on what a thoroughly nice man he was. He is much missed, although not by Polly Toynbee, I suspect.

Anybody who earns a nasty obituary from Polly Toynbee deserves my respect. I wonder what Waugh would have thought of Dave Webcameron's recent praise of that second rate Brownite evangelist? Probably what the rest of us think, although he would have said it better.
