Don't ponder too much on those hundreds of thousands of human civilians your governments have effectively sentenced to death. You might lose your appetites. And, no, I'm not talking about your appetites for revenge and/or "democratic revolution". Those are apparently insatiable.

The White Man's Burden lives on. Hurrah.

Editor's note: dude, when has anyone on this blog called for a 'democratic' anything anywhere? Take a couple Prozac. Revenge however, now that is something I can get behind.

Well I did very briefly ponder that exact thought, in between glasses of vino and vast quantities of food ... but then I thought 'fuck 'em" and carried on regardless. Happy Christmas.

I had a great time although I had a terrible hangover this morning. Cannot for the life of me think why.

Beacon, yes, I think about all the people we have sentenced to death all the time, such as Saddam Hussein, who as a result, will not be doing any more sentencing of his own. Ain't that sweet?

Well, after what I did to myself at that certain Reuters journalist's party last year, I am almost glad I am ten thousand miles away this year. Not that there is exactly a shortage of chances to eat and drink here in Australia.

Christmas? Not in my house it isn't! I'm going to be happily gorging myself in the spirit of Yule. But each to their own particular varient of the midwinter festival!

When I'm not busy oppressing the poor misunderstood people who think it's their culture to beat the snot out of the wives in front of the kids around the Christmas tree, I have a few bottles of Stone Breweries Smoked Porter and Great Divide Imperial Stout cellaring. I'll raise a glass to all of the people sentenced to death by the West, including S. Hussein and those hanged subsequent to Nuremburg.

Wel as the party was closer to the Winter Solstice than Xmas. Happy Holidays is far more accurate.

The latest theory on Stonehenge, has it as a kind of stone age Lourdes.
All the bodies they have found round the site appear not to be local, but are from Wales, Scotland Ireland and even the continent . What they all had in common is that they were really not very well at all!
So it's reconed to have been a place of pilgrimage and healing.
So the Druids and Hippies have got the wrong Solstace. It should be at the rebirth of the sun at a time when regeneration would be strongest.
