A new 'New Space' company is born
Dale Amon (Belfast, Northern Ireland/Laramie, Wy)  Aerospace

As I write I am sitting in a motel room in Colorado after two days of meetings in Wyoming associated with the launch of a new company. I am sad to say I will miss the coming festivities of the Samizdata Fifth Anniversary party so I hope those present have a wonderful time.

Meanwhile back in Colorado... exactly why is it I am blogging about the start up of another commercial space company?

Perhaps it is the officers of the new company, Wyoming Space Information Systems (WYSIS) : James C Bennett, CEO; Dale M Amon, CTO; and Rand Simberg, Space Operations.

I expect Rand will also make some announcement on Transterrestrial Musings if he has not done so already, and I will post more information as we finalize and develop plans.

Comments

When is the IPO?

I want a piece of it.

An all star cast of officers.

Best of luck to WYSIS.

Cool...so what exactly are you guys going to be doing. The only match I found on a google search didn't seem to have anything to do with space.

Call us a second tier New Space company which provides services to other company's. We have a letter of intent on a significant contract but I am not free to discuss it.

But in short, Jim is doing a lot of regulatory and lobby work; Rand is doing systems engineering; I am doing an IT infrastructure product (not directly space related at the moment, but give me time ;-)

We also have investment at a level sufficient to our initial needs.

I wish I could tell you more, but that is the way things are when you are an operating officer of a company. If Glorious Leader Jim C Bennet wishes any other info released you'll hear about it here.

If you might have any needs that our team might be suited for, give Jim a tinkle.

Laramie? Nice town. I lived in Ft. Collins briefly about 15 years ago and fell in love with the northern section of the Front Range.

I'm an IT guy as well, and was wondering which collaborative engineering SW package your new venture will be using. It's far easier to develop your processes around your collaboration toolset than the other way around - just ask any high-tech or aerospace manufacturer. Ping me sometime.
