Samizdata quote of the day
Brian Micklethwait (London)  Slogans/quotations

Visiting London without a camera is like visiting the Lake District without climbing boots.

Ah, London. The crowds, the office blocks, the traffic, the global fast food franchises. So unlike any other city.

The lady is certainly doing her bit to coarsen London for others with that screaming shopping bag.

London is far from 'just another city', it is like a jack-in-the-box filled with surprises, both good and bad. The woman is entirely correct.

Whaddya mean about the bag? Give her points for coordinating with the tour coach.

Bah. Ever since my favorite fish 'n chip shop closed in Earl's Court, my camera has stayed resolutely in my pocket.

The hell with Seasons. Their food tastes like crap.

And no: the ubiquitous chicken bloody satay doesn't begin to compensate.
