We have belatedly started adding additional links to a great many interesting blogs in the Samizdata.net sidebar (31 added so far today). More will be added later tonight as well as culling a few inactive ones.

You mentioned the Cortina. Ford money also, to a great extent, made it possible for Colin Chapman to turn Lotus into a going concern. The original Twin Cam engine was designed around the Ford Kent block.
The Brits make great cars. Not the most reliable, but great nonetheless.
