Samizdata slogan of the day
Alex Singleton (London)  Slogans/quotations

Oh, um, oh God, um, yes, um, I can't believe that you said that. I can't believe that you, um, said that, um, all that stuff about, um, oh no, about that stuff... Oh God, you guys at, um, Samizdata, are, um, naughty.

Well that certainly sounds like The Boris!

Us? Naughty? What have we done now?

Has anybody else noticed that since mid-Dec Boris's web site has been off line.

I originally assumed that it was down for a few days to have all the conservative principles taken off, but it still hasn't reappeared. It now looks as if a decision has been reached that newly appointed spokesmen of Her Majesties Opposition shouldn't get too close to the masses.

John East - Interesting. Well, a raised eyebrow and tiny grimace from one OE to another ... Understood, old chap.

And speaking of the new Tory leadership, I've added a comment on Jonathan's topic below titled, 'David Cameron's interesting start', with an item that came out last night, while you were all otherwise engaged in partying or sleeping.

Im from Australia, i really dont know why im posting, furthermore im wondering why i would bother thinking about politics at my age.

HOWEVER, i do believe that a Mp should be able to control the more finer functions of his brain such as articulation (not that I'm any closer my self.. hell, I cant even spell) like.. i wouldnt trust an American President that cant masticate let alone run a country. (just a stupid thought from a stupid person)

Just what Oz needs - another BDS-er.

"(just a stupid thought from a stupid person)"

I was about to say, "You can say that again". But you just did.

Boris may love to act the confused touselled haired buffoon, but believe me, it is only an act.

He is a most impressive intellect. Pity he is caught up with this pack of PC twerps.

I think everyone is aware that the tousled buffoon act is an act, Chris. Boris thinks it's rather charming. I don't agree that he's an impressive intellect. He's quite clever, but so are a lot of people.

Posted by Verity at January 2, 2006 12:47 PM

I'm not even sure it's an "Act"
He accentuates his eccentricities certainly, because he is an intelligent human being and it plays well with the audience and get's you noticed, but if any of you have seen his dad on tv then you will know that 90% of Boris's delivery, somewhere between Vicky Pollard and you are awful, but I like you, Dick Emery, is down to family traits.
His dad isn't stupid either.
It's just the way they come over.
Don't be fooled.
THe words outway the fluff of presentation.

Or as Boris himself stated when interviewed by Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear, "Don't assume that just because I act like a blithering idiot on the outside, that there isn't a blithering idiot lurking on the inside." (or words to that effect).

All anyone who thinks Boris Johnson is highly intelligent has to do is look at the dog's breakfast he has made of the Speccie.
