There were other (unsung) heroes, Verity. The next 10 years were no picnic for the Royal Navy. I'm preparing a review of Trafalgar and the post-Trafalgar conflict. Just because there were no big sea-battles, didn't mean that the naval war ended in 1805.

That's very interesting. Somebody said on telly last night that Traf saved us from French invasion but didn't explain why such a faraway battle wd defend the Channel/Manche. Building a new fleet was a lot cheaper in those days. But still meant somebody had to pay their taxes. To an increasingly powerful gumn!

Findlay, excellent! Nelson is a true hero, probably the greatest military hero this nation has ever produced, and Norfolk's greatest son, methinks.

Interesting to wonder what would have happened if Nelson had survived Trafalgar.
