London’s bombings, more developments

Sky News and its sister television channel Fox is reporting, along with Channel 4 News, that the bombers last Thursday may heve been killed in the act of detonation. I am watching a police press conference as I write. A number of police raids are going on in Yorkshire, northern England.

I don’t believe in the existence of Hell, but if there is such a place, may the mass murderers of last Thursday spend much time in it.

Meanwhile, according to reports, the BBC has been busying itself over the weekend re-editing its coverage of the terrorist bombings, asiduously removing the use of that very word, “terrorist”.

According to the Telegraph, Coco The Clown (PC gaulieter and author of the BBC’s guidleines) writes: ‘..the word “terrorist” itself can be a barrier rather than an aid to understanding and its use should be avoided”.

Bugger the terrorists. I say we stamp out the BBC first.

  • Andrew Kinsman

These alleged bombers . . . . nobody is telling us, but would they be militant Methodists?

  • More likely Lutherans they are a mad bunch that lot!

  • SLR

    Dratted Buddhists!

  • Samsung

You blind fools… You have all got it WRONG. Can’t you see, these terrorists aren’t members of the “Religion of Peace”. They are really Tabernacle Mormons in cahoots with the fundamentalist Hara Krishnas, hell bent on converting us to polygenist vegetarianism.

  • I am just shocked at you racist bunch … you seem to be implying that there is some reason to believe that suicide bombers might be of Islamic origin.

That is just evil racist Western imperialist thought. Suicide bombers, as sensible non-racist people know … are all filthy Jews! They knew about 9/11 before it happened, you know.

  • Julian Taylor

Now stop being alarmist and using words like that. Auntie Beeb knows best in that you can refer to them as “bombers”, “radical elements”, “radical fundementalists”, “british-born bombers”, but not use the words “muslim”, “islamic”, “terrorist” or “suicide bombers”.

After all, as we’ve just been told yet again, Islam is religion of peace …

  • Rob

I like to call them EU citizens

  • Pete_London

You lot must be taking the piss.

Can you not see that we must not make any individual assumptions? Can you not not see that we must not have the impertinence to arrive at our own, individual conclusions?

Let us leave this matter in the hands of those best placed to speak for and protect us: the BBC, Tony Blair, Charles Clarke, Ken Livingstone, Commissioner Sir Ian Blair and Commander Brian Paddick.

Surely only a cynic would point out that this fine array of talent is nothing more than the Guardian on a global scale, a deranged fantasist, a radical Marxist, a Trotskyite, the pc PC and a professional gay.

    Let’s have more respect.

  • Verity

Pete_London can always be counted on for something pithy and witty. Let us leave this matter in the hands of those best placed to speak for and protect us: the BBC, Tony Blair, Charles Clarke, Ken Livingstone, Commissioner Sir Ian Blair and Commander Brian Paddick.

The fact is, every one of those people and the ghastly BBC implicitly encouraged this attack by wafting fragrant, non-judgemental thoughts to British-born (I wish they would stop calling them British when they are not; they’re alien) Muslims – refusing to utter the conjunction that dare not speak its name: Muslim terrorist. “The vast majority of British Muslims are decent, blah blah blah …”.

I would venture to say they are not. They don’t denounce bombers. That removes them from being “British” even in quotes. They don’t denounce the mosques. Ismail Sacrebleu or whatever his name is (council of Muslims, Muslim Parliament, who knows – one of those spokesmen of one of those bullying entitites) had the impertience to twit Melanie Phillips – with his eye fixed firmly on the new “anti incitement to religious hatred” legislation – when she asked whether he would denounce Muslim terrorists. All together now, boys and girls: Terrorists cannot be Muslim, which is the religion of peace.

  • The Times Online has a first rate article, naming the bombers and giving background, education etc.,

    3 things command my attention

    1. It would be foolish to think that this was an isolated incident.
    2. There are evidently some ruthless people who have access to military HE, timers, detonators and can educate some gullible young people to act as mules.
    3. Our secret services / Police failed totally to have detected this specific group / cell.

Dwell on that than heavy handed sarcasm about the perpetrators. The execution was in many respects amateur, the strategy, chillingly competent.

As they say in Leeds. Think on.

  • The strategy? Oh please … the “strategy” is to murder people because they think it’s fun and because they like to play secret agent, sneaking around with bombs and so forth, while taking full advantage of the free press to mouth off about the very freedoms they are attacking.

It’s the same “strategy” my little sister used to try to get her way when she was five – make lots of noise to irritate, cry and whine to attract pity. Didn’t make her Napoleon, doesn’t make them anything other than murderous assholes. Let’s not make these nits into something more than they are – vile, dangerous insects who need to be eradicated.

  • Andrew Kinsman

Verity, you missed a full stop out of your comment! Don’t you know that the words “Muslim” and “terrorist” mustn’t ever be used in the same sentence? That’s almost as much of a solecism as saying “to you and I”. Where’s your grammar?

  • stephen ottridge

Congratulations to the British Police for latching on to these 4 terrorists so quickly. This is just excellent police work. Now to find others before they claim their 52 virgins.

  • Verity

Andrew – I’ll stand by my original phrasing regardless of your irony.

It is my sincere will to say the people shredders who planted those bombs are unquestionably Islamic terrorist shitwits. I hope they’re dead for one reason only – if they’re alive and need operations, blood transfusions and endless and expensive therapy, they will be the guests of the people they tried to destroy. This I do not want. I do not see it as a moral triumph. I see it as suicidal stupidity. For this reason alone, I want them dead. If I thought they would be allowed to suffer if alive, I would want them living.

  • GCooper

    Stephen Ottridge writes:

Congratulations to the British Police for latching on to these 4 terrorists so quickly. This is just excellent police work.”

Well… it was good forensic detective work, yes. But I’m more than a little concerned that these fuckwits hadn’t been monitored by the security services beforehand.

Alternatively, if they were, that they weren’t toasted on both sides down at Paddington Green nick before they could wreck so many lives.

I do hope Special Branch and MI5 haven’t gone all PC on us and are scared to take pre-emptive action.

  • Steve P

“I don’t believe in the existence of hell but if there is such a place, may the mass murderes of last Thursday spend much time in it.”
Well, maybe not that long; let’s just say….eternity.

  • Pete_London

    GCooper says:

I do hope Special Branch and MI5 haven’t gone all PC on us and are scared to take pre-emptive action.

Oh but they have. Melanie Phillips puts it about right:

While few would disagree that the Met has to be sensitive to the needs of ethnic minorities, Sir Ian’s (Blair’s) obsession with attacking ‘Islamophobia’ is now raising serious concerns among certain police officers and security sources. It is getting in the way of the job the police are called upon to do. Officers who try to address the delicate issue of terrorism and its supporters within the Muslim community now find themselves in danger of being accused within their own force of Islamophobia.

The situation has become so grave that some members of the security services no longer trust the Met with sensitive counter-terrorist information.

  • Verity

Honey – would you trust the obviously mad Ian Blair with sensitive information? I’m hoping something is going on behind the scenes to excise him from the police service. Ian Blair is bonkers. He spent £15,000 to change the Met’s motto from script to print because he fantasized that there were tens of thousands of morons who were desperate to understand what the Met was for, but couldn’t read joined up writing. Fifteen thousand pounds for a fat-faced little thrill-seeker to feel good about himself.

Ian, old son, can I give you a little tip? Once the Islamic nutters are in charge of Britain, you will not be a police chief any more. Actually, you and your family will not be what we technically refer to as “alive” any more. Important police fact to remember.

Oh, is Blair from Liverpool? Anyone else notice that he could be Paul McCartney’s brother? Same little fat faces, self-congratulatory eyebrows raised.

I hope no one thinks I’m cruel. No little animals were harmed or frightened in the making of this post.

  • Paul McCartney’s brother? You are cruel!

  • It appears that the Met/MI5/6/7/8/9/ Police have been chasing shadows rather than terrorists.

  • Julian Taylor

Given that they have made the link to a Leeds-based Al Queda cell within 5 days of the explosions in London I think they did pretty damn well. Certainly that was no small feat to achieve for any police force, especially one so politically handicapped as the Met is. Now we just need to hear that the Imam who sent these animals to die for Allah was given the GSG9 treatment – Baader Meinhof terrorist gets on Hercules for flight back to Germany from Mogadishu, yet fails to get off at the other end after a long flight over the Mediterranean …

  • What is a amusing of course is that one of the families of the killers filed a missing person’s report about the whereabouts of their son.

  • sesquipedalian

I heard that there about 200 homegrown insurgents
in this country. The moderate muslim population though more than makes up for these cheeky rascals.

  • Rob Read

“What is a amusing of course is that one of the families of the killers filed a missing person’s report about the whereabouts of their son. ” : Andrew Ian Dodge

I fail to see what is amusing about this?

  • John East

It’s early days, and there is obviously a lot more information to be recovered yet. However, a news report today stated that one of these (dare I use the word?) terrorists had been to Afghanistan for 5 weeks.

Call me Mr. Suspicious if you like, but when a 19 year old goes on such a trip, do the security services assume that a new Butlins must have been opened, do they put such an individual on a watch list of suspects, or are they simply unaware that he took such a trip.

  • Verity

Well, tough shit for the terrorist’s family who filed a missing persons report.

Andrew ID – I didn’t know a Baader-Meinhoff terrorist had taken a dip in the Med! Sounds like a plan!!

Julian Taylor – I don’t think it’s so wonderful that they identified these pieces of Muslim garbage after only five days. They’d probably been “keeping an eye on them” for months if not years. This is what they do in Britain. They tell you proudly that they “know who they are, and we’re keeping an eye on them”. Why not book them on a flight to Mogadishu?

Stephen Ottridge – You’re 20 virgins short of a harem. It’s 72 virgins they get. Shows you how absolutely repressed and twisted they are. Murdering people to get 72 virgins. Also, did you know these “virgins” are retreads? It’s the same 72 virgins, but they get turned into being virgins again. These people are sick, sick, sick. Religion of peace my arse. Religion of psychos. O

  • stephen ottridge

An important operation in Muslim world is repairing the hymen to make it appear the woman is a virgin. You have an Iraqi surgeon, doctor to Saddam, now living in Britain who performed many of these operations. So yes your’e right, the 72 virgins are retreads. I put in 72 to see if anyone read my post.
I was told recently about some Russians who were kidnapped and executed in Lebanon many years ago, the Russian secret service went in and killed every member of the families of the Lebanese kidnappers, wives, parents, children. No Russians were kidnapped again in Lebanon.

  • hersferdan

You lot are bad enough when your being serious but when you’re trying to be funny, it’s almost painful. You bang on about the rights of individuals to make their own decisions & have personal freedoms then put a load of ignorant bullshit about arabs. If you didnt swallow the blarite spin which you seem to be you might realise that this attack had less to do with religion & more to do with a war that many people around the world (not just arabs) considered unjust. Just last week 25 civilians were killed in Afghanistan by US troops, no mention of murderous bastards etc blah blah blah barely even featured on the news. an estimated (could be a lot less could be a lot more)100, 000 civilians were killed in Iraq, now you have to understand that that kind of thing pisses people off, doesn’t matter what faith, if any, you have. It was the Americans who declared ‘the war’, the UK jumped in behind them, this is what happens in a war I’m afraid. & hold on I’M NOT DEFENDING WHAT THEY DID but lets get it in perspective. Why does it matter more that 52 people were murdered in this country when the tally in the middle east is at hundreds of thousands & probably millions (depending on when you start counting the US/West has been fucking about in the Middle East for at least 60 years)? Is it purely that they are Arabs or foreigners or they are “repressed & twisted” or a “religion of psychos” (tell me one religion which hasnt acted psychotically in history & Bush/Blair are supposed god botherers) or whatever other ignorant remark you might want to make. & if someone is muslim do you really think they deserve to die? that doesnt sound much like libertarianism to me it sounds like pure fascism. From reading the various opinions on this site it seems that you lot would actually be in favour of “sending them all back home. I’m not sure if this is what this site is about but thats what it’s portraying. If we do send them back how far do we go. My Grandmother fled the Russian revolution do I get sent back? (probably yes by virtue of the fact that I don’t share many of your opinions) How many generations before you are accepted as British? is it a colour thing? what?
If you are a believer in freedom (actual freedom not yank sanctioned freedom) then you have to put up with lots of other people being free.
Or is it one is free to do what you lot consider acceptable? Just imagine a country full of smug self satisfied, narrow minded, pendantic bigots, that sounds like paradise i bet. Jesus christ you lot are worse than Blair & Bush & the puppet BBC you just regurgitate your opinions from a slightly different source. The Daily Mail by all accounts. You lot sound like the old conservatives that we all thought were a dying breed. Pretty sad that we are seemingly stuck at this stage of political evolution.

  • Verity

Good for the Russians. They didn’t fail in their duty to their own citizens in that horrific school take-over, either. Beslan? Also, I liked the way they handled the take-over of the cinema around four years ago, where they piped gas in to put everyone to sleep. Some with weak hearts died, but who is to say the terrorists wouldn’t have killed them anyway. But most lived and the terrorists were caught. Gosh, I wonder what happened to them after that? We never heard anything …

Here is yet another Muslim opportunist who has the script down pat: Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the Islamic Human Rights Commission, said: “The criminality of anyone should not be associated with their nationality, ethnicity or religion.

“That sort of association is totally unjust and xenophobic and can create a great injustice by promoting prejudice that could fuel further violence against innocent people. A criminal is a criminal, is a criminal, full stop.” Note the demotion of murdering terrorists to “criminals”. Do they really think the British are not sophisticated enough to spot these crude, oleagenous manipulations of our language?

Ah yes, these appeals for calm in the face of this terrible backlash we see going on on our TV screens. Families slaughtered. Mosques burning. (If only.) But these are the individuals that T Bliar “engages with”. Not Britons.

And WTF is the Islamic Human Rights Commission, if you please? What “human rights” could a Muslim possibly address?

  • Verity

hersferdan – of course no one would read your long stream of drivel all the way through, but I read the first couple of sentences and saw you are guilty of gross racism. This is the number one crime in the world. I quote you: “…load of ignorant bullshit about arabs”.

Where has anyone on any of the topics introduced by Samizdata mentioned Arabs? We are talking about British born terrorists, who are Pakis. This is a different race from Arabs. Imagine painting all terrorists as belonging to the Arab race. I am shocked. Shocked!

  • Just last week 25 civilians were killed in Afghanistan by US troops

Context? Did the US troops put a bomb on their bus?

an estimated (could be a lot less could be a lot more)100, 000 civilians were killed in Iraq

Could it be a lot more? Could it be a lot less? Hey, I made an estimated (could be a lot less could be a lot more) $8,000,000,000,000 last year – this game is fun!

Why does it matter more that 52 people were murdered in this country when the tally in the middle east is at hundreds of thousands & probably millions (depending on when you start counting the US/West has been fucking about in the Middle East for at least 60 years)?

60 years is not even a beginning of the history of relations between Islam and the West. Why go back only 60? What happened 60 years ago in particular that seems so important to Islam? Hmm … (hint: something to do with Joooos!)

Also, I am curious: which countries in the middle east are we occupying without the consent of the elected government of that country? Please list them for me.

My Grandmother fled the Russian revolution do I get sent back?

I don’t know … do you set off bombs in trains? Did your grandmother?

If you are a believer in freedom (actual freedom not yank sanctioned freedom) then you have to put up with lots of other people being free.

Examples of fake, yank-sanctioned freedom? I missed the news from the revolutionary underground press about American troops stationed in newspaper offices in Iraq and London, making sure that the right things get printed for the sheeple. Please enlighten me, comrade. Also: free to do what? Put bombs on trains?

Jesus christ you lot are worse than Blair & Bush & the puppet BBC you just regurgitate your opinions from a slightly different source. The Daily Mail by all accounts.

I have never read the Daily Mail but thanks for the tip; I will check it out.

Re:regurgitation of info – that 100,000 civilians thing above is a bit tired out from making the rounds of the moonbat west-hating leftie sites – maybe you should use a slightly different number for a while and give that one a chance to catch its breath?

  • Verity

    Bombadil – Funny fisking!

  • Snorre

Mh, indeed the 100.k figure is a bit off, the UN estimated about 24.k last I heard.

And what’s this stuff about arabs? I say we blame marxists!

  • “What is a amusing of course is that one of the families of the killers filed a missing person’s report about the whereabouts of their son. ” : Andrew Ian Dodge

I fail to see what is amusing about this?

They gave the police the first major lead which led the police to find out their scumbag son was a suicide bomber? Surely a bit ironically amusing don’t you think?

  • hersferdan

“Context? Did the US troops put a bomb on their bus?”

no as usual they fired from a safe distance using millions of dollars of tax payers money making sure they were well out of harms way. Is that any better or worse? The bloodshed was still bloodshed
& I did say “depends when you start counting” regarding the 60 years. & Fucking about with the middle east doesnt just mean occupation it’s hardly a secret that the CIA organise ‘spontaneous rallies’ for example against Syrian occupation or in Iran in the 50s & at many times in between & not to mention what goes on behind closed doors. The Us govt might well be more guilty than is generally believed in a lot of these terrorist attacks. It wouldn’t surprise me if Hariris assasination had something to do with the yanks they are the only ones who seemed to gain anything from it (massive destabilisation without having to resort to an illegal & unpopular war)
    examples of fake yankee freedom.
in which country is it illegal to smoke, even on the streets in some cities?
how free is that? In a country that bangs on about freedom so much why can’t we choose which drugs to imbibe in?
in which country is it illegal to say the f-word let alone cunt on network TV?
Which country has systematically tried to censor the music industry since the PMRC was first formed.
Which country can they monitor your phones without permission can raid your house without a warrant blah blah blah
The US wants actual freedom as much as it wants the big one on the west coast.. Why do they keep banging on about it?
(As I remeber the Nazis banged on about freedom something about work makes you free….)
“You are free to do what we tell you”
& Allawi govt (not an elected govt) decided to ban Al Jazeera from Iraq weeks after they were handed office. So your sarcasm about US troops in media houses is not far wrong. You’ve only got to look up the chain as to who owns these media houses. US troops not required.
i’m sure verity cant be arsed to even get this far so i think i can safely say that you are one of the problems of this world soulless & compassionless, you’re so filled up with ignorant narrow minded bullshit. None of us know exactly whats going it’s all just a question of what you believe (& I find it pretty ironic that you start quoting UN figures all of a sudden.)
whatever theres no discussion with some people & thats what i thought a blog was about not just another flock of sheep all baahing the same baaah.

  • my comment refurs to dat bombadils view i would like 2state that its not JUST jews there are many religions invloved in these attacks! i think its a discusting callus thing to be doing and that more needs to be done 2 prevent this! im sure alot of u out der agree with me…it needs to stop!
