Ah, but if there were wahabi-type fanatics prepared to "martyr" themselves in the name of Satan I wonder if instead of 72 'black-eyed houris' they would get 72 Anna Nicole Smiths, and an especially bestial martyr (Beslan type) would get a Paris Hilton thrown in free?

Actually, *all* suicide bombers belong to Satan by definition since suicide is forbidden by both the Bible and the Koran. ^_^
As for there being no atheist suicide bombers? Maybe you should look again. One of the earlier posts in Samizdata did point out that Islamic terrorism had its roots in Leftist atheist ideology rather than in traditional Islam. Moreover, more than one 19th Century Anarchist did use guns or explosives to scrag others in circumstances where they themselves knew they would die. Since those anarchists are the ideological ancestors of the Liberterian movement one can say that Liberterian atheists were the *inventors* of suicide bombing. ^~^

Maybe there are none in hell because hell for a suicide bomber is being admitted to heaven and forgiven. Or being told categorically that there is neither God nor Satan. Or for the real, real bad ones, being forced to watch UK daytime TV.

Joe, Well, I think that's the first time I've been accused of being nuancy. It was more of a lunge really, and I missed. I was trying to make the connection between two mythical beings being avatars of each other - Satan and Allah. But it didn't work.
Besides, regarding Satan, sometimes I hae ma doots.

Actually the first suicide terrorists I ever ran into were Marxist Leninist PFLP types in 1974.
That religion has more or less collapsed, so will Islamofascism.
PS I saw a great T shirt on the subway last month, a picture of the devil saying "Jesus is busy, How may I help you?
