Samizdata.net server says... burp!
Perry de Havilland (London)  Administrative

The server upon which we are hosted was a bit dyspetic for about an hour today... but it is feeling much better now after it was burped (rebooted) by our excellent chums at Hosting Matters, who really are the worlds best hosting company!

Comments

Uhm, no. The 'worlds best hosting company' would know what was wrong with the server, and not have to reboot, unless it is after nailing the problem for good.

And would have preventative measures ready to back track DDoS attacks such as they've come under, at least after the first time.

And would have redundant locations, mirrored servers, load balancers, etc.

But they seem ok for blogs....just not industrial strength. And they sound like they have good service, which is probably what you meant by "world's best" :-)

Just saying....and no I haven't worked for a hosting company myself in years, so I have no horse in this race.

As you don't in fact know what happened, forgive me if I my reply is... nope. They rock.

"...and no I haven't worked for a hosting company myself in years, so I have no horse in this race."

And, indeed, nothing useful to say at all.
