  1. Take a sheet of grey construction paper.
  2. Hold it over your head.
  3. Look up at it in a dark room.
That's approximately what I can see from here. T'is a normal Irish night, so I'd also need slow wipers for my eyeballs.

I would just about see the glow from a dinosaur killer asteroid,.. if it passed directly overhead.

Opposite problem in these parts- lovely clear sky and a fullish moon washing out all but the brighest stars, shooting or not.

Drat. Don't suppose I'll be around for the next so spectacular shower that they say will happen in 100 yrs... though, then again, you never know...
