Astronaut decks idiot
Dale Amon (Belfast, Northern Ireland)  Aerospace

What happens when a "we-didn't-go-to-the-moon" moron calls an astronaut a liar? Yep. You got it in one. He gets decked... and that is exactly what happened when Bart Sibrel, an ignoramus, shoved a camera in Buzz Aldrin's face.

One should remember Buzz is in his 70's at the very least. So we have here a demonstration of what a lifetime of physical fitness can do. Mr Sibrel should consider himself lucky... had he done this twenty years or more ago, he would now be doing a richly deserved pretzel impression in an emergency room.

Congratulations to Buzz for giving Mr Sibrel his just deserts... and he's definitely got my vote the next time he runs for the NSS board!

Now,if that's the end of it, fine.
However, there's still Mr. Sibrel's lawsuit to deal with.Where are the fifties when you need them?

Buzz hails from my hometown of Montclair N.J. Remember seeing him in the parade we held for him after the moonwalk.

Way to go homie!!

Well, if Buzz Aldrin ends up needing a defense fund, those Americans who remember him from 'way back in 1969 won't abandon him now. Especially seeing as how he's still obviously in fine form.

Is this what was meant by "An armed society is a polite society"?:)

If you have been to the moon, and someone claims to your face that you never went, you should have a legal right to punch him.

Posted by Jason at September 12, 2002 06:04 PM

Two updates: I heard an audio recording of the incident on CBS radio yesterday morning.
Aldrin asked the man to leave several times, and then threw the punch after the guy called him "a liar, a thief, and a coward."
Surely that guy whom Senator Glenn laid flat on the steps of Congress ten years ago could have told him it doesn't pay to provoke an astronaut.
Second, the local Contra Costa Times ran the following headline:
"ONE SMALL WISECRACK FROM A MAN, ONE GIANT SMACK FOR MANKIND"

If that much is on tape, I hope Mr Aldrin considers a [counter]suit for slander. If the idiot has published the "liar" and/or "thief" allegations, go for libel.

A forgery of the Lunar Landing would have been a even greater achievement than the landing itsself.

But - why the show 6 times ?

It never happened. It was all a hoax. I've got the scoop at my blog.

BTW, this would make a wonderful defense strategy if it ever (unjustly) goes to trial. Debunking the debunker.

"The Eagle has landed. . .a Right Cross"

(Should have followed with a Left Hook. . .)

I can see it now on TNT/WWE:

"In this corner, wearing the white (moon) suit, standing 5'10" and weighing 160lbs with a Ph.D from MIT, the 'Moonman from Mountclair, NJ', the 'Terror of Tranquillity Base'. . . Buzz 'Lightyear' Aldrin. . .

And in this corner, wearing the yellow (journalism) suit of ignorance, standing 6'2 and weighing 250lbs, Bart "Bible swearing, No Brains, BS" Sibrel. . ."

OR. . .(as a couple of other individuals have posted elsewhere):

"Float like an Astronaut, Buzz like a bee. . ."

"Does this mean Mattel will now re-issue the "GI Joe-Buzz Aldrin" figure with new packaging that says: 'NOW with Kung-Fu Action Grip'?"

Buzz, Hit him once for me!!!!

WELL DONE!!
VIVA BUZZ!!
When are these guys going to understand Man truly reached the Moon in 1969?
And, when are these same guys going to understand that we, Earthians, are precisely still Earthbounded (forced to be this way) by anti-human economical policies worldwide? This is one of the main reasons we can not still go back to the Moon, and certainly we are not still so able to make a single human manned mission to Mars.
Again, my congratulations to Buzz!!

It was no hoax. These skeptics are morons. I researched the information myself and also saw those two episodes on Fox(?).

The skeptics argument was that in the pictures from the moon, some had missing crosshairs, and some parts of crosshairs were blocked off, leading them to believe that the photos were manipulated.

Another argument is that some pictures taken from different dates show the same background. But if you were to take a picture with a mountain in the background and take another picture with the same mountain in the background, only 20 miles in another direction, your background would look very similar to the first picture.

Conclusion: Moon skeptics are uneducated morons who deserve to be decked.

BTW, the crosshair flaws happen naturally.
