I learned this sad news the other day. His "World's Smallest Quiz" is a great piece of outreach. I prefer the single axis position, showing degrees of totalitarianism (extreme left - anarchy; extreme right - total state), but the compass is an influential innovation. I hope he felt accomplished in his life, though he did not seem happy with the directions the party he helped create was taking.
