We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

For the lacemakers among you

My husband thought this webpage, produced by three ladies from the state of Texas, might be of interest to Samizdata readers.

  • I like their style. Could be just the change of image fox hunting needs…

  • Hog hunting seems to be good for your…lungs.

Mmmm, fire up the Barbie someone!

Hog roast and crackling will do me fine.

Tuscan wild boar and bean stew will be ok too, for the more refined amongst you…

  • I so love living in Texas. People like these ladies are one of the reasons that I do…

    Very easy on the eye.

Not what lace making means near me – still the towns that used to make lace (such as Oundle in Buckinghamshire – just down the road from me) NO LONGER DO SO. Virtually every town in Britain used to be good at various things (but no longer does them).

That is the thing about Texas – people there refuse to be known as people who “used” to do things (whether it is hunting or manufacturing), they want to carry on doing things – and they really think they can.

Texans I know insist that they could make an optimist even of me.

“In life you defend freedom and private property (for the two are linked – rightful freedom does not include the violation of other people’s bodies or goods, and without self ownership freedom is meaningless), and even the Roman Empire and the Dark Age that followed it could not destroy these ideas”.

“And in death – you are right with God”.

“So your life has meaning (whether you win in your own time or not) and death is not the end”.

“So why so down-in-the-mouth – you should smile”.

    The logic is sound.

    6 more plastic bags…

The Sun should get a Nobel Taste Prize for forbidding plastic.

  • It took me a while to figure out what the website is about. Hog hunting wasn’t my first guess. In any case, it looks fun.

As I expected, nothing for us straight-laced types! And why aren’t they in bikinis?

  • Your husband is a wise, wise man, Natalie.

  • There is only one Texas.

    “Turnoffs: Drama”

Yeah, right! Tell me another one.

Anyway, all three ladies do seem to have the proper focus and attitude.
