We are developing the social individualist meta-context for the future. From the very serious to the extremely frivolous... lets see what is on the mind of the Samizdata people.

Samizdata, derived from Samizdat /n. - a system of clandestine publication of banned literature in the USSR [Russ.,= self-publishing house]

Samizdata quote of the day

Getting a lecture on morality from a politician is like getting a lecture on chastity from a whore

  • Or getting a lecture on civiil discourse from George Galloway.

Having experienced neither I find it difficult to comment but it seems to fall into the ‘fighting for peace’, ‘fucking for chastity’ group of oxymorons…a word in which the last two syllables are peculiarly political.

  • Sounds about right.

Except a whore won’t lecture you on chastity unless you ask her to. Politicians can’t stop trying to make you moral.

How do you know that, Guy?

Many years ago in a place I wish I had never visited, an Antipodean lady astonishingly said: “What’s a nice guy like you doing in a place like this?” Strangely, I think she meant it (I was only sightseeing at the time…..believe me!)

True enough, at least with a prostitute you’re getting an honest commercial transaction.

John, I rather took the essence of the quote as just as the politician’s lecture is about why you should be moral (while he robs you), said lecture is as credible as one extoling the merits of chastity by a whore while she fuck you.

Guy, I think that should be
“A whore won’t lecture you on chastity
    unless you PAY her to”
    Ask Germaine Greer.
Oops bit snide for a sunday!

  • This very well may just be deleted and so be it, as it is way off topic, but this post is the closest to the subject I guess for this.

This is a new, worthy, and important effort to make the Libertarian Party in the United States more viable and more appealing to mainstream Americans. I would be very pleased and would appreciate it greatly if Samizdata would spread the word about this.
Without a doubt, the Libertarian Party needs to jumpstart the cause of liberty by abandoning its impossible absolutist stances on myriad issues.
    The sooner the better.
