Not only was he a smart and first-rate advocate of classical liberalism and had a vast store of knowledge about the literature and history of liberalism, he was also a fun person to be around. I once went out with him and his former wife to see Dick Dale, &quot;king of the surf guitar&quot;, play live in Islington. Absolute magic. Whenever I think of R&amp;R or surf music, I will think of Chris.

Oh, and he was a massive Heinlein fan. Most sensible people are.]]></description>
