If you’re listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you’re a bigger moron than they are.

I have always worried about the idea that people may be persuaded about an issue because a star backs it. The papers worry that politicians are out of touch with real people and yet Film / Rock stars are supposed to be experts. The fact that they are the most vacuous people on the planet is somehow not important.

On another note, does this mean that GW can use the excellent song “Elected” on the campaign trail, or “Hey Stupid” in his negative ads?

You’re not “subjected” to anything. Your TV, unless it’s very unusual, has BOTH an ON/OFF switch and a means of changing the channel. Look into it.

In 1980, I got roughed up by a Cooper bodyguard at some event in Pheonix – I’ll never forgive him for that trauma … well I don’t really remember it much since I was backed at the time but my friends told me a very lurid story to explain the black eye and busted lip.

Here in Arizona we are subjected to Alice Cooper’s rock ‘n roll / baseball themed restaurant (you read that right) as well as his occassional appearance on local car dealership commercials (which he may own, I don’t know.)

He is one of the leading proponents from the “Golf course rehab”, getting all sorts of rockers to play Golf instead of getting wrecked. It may sound bizarre but Alice and Judas Priest manage to make Golf “cool” in the metal world.

Alice looks like he was left out in the rain like the cake in Macarthur Park (song of suitable vintage). I can’t imagine any music fan under 40 taking much notice of a guy who makes Sky TV commercials with Ronnie Corbett. However, Britney Spears has also come out for Bush, no doubt sharing his views on the sanctity of marriage. All he needs now are endorsements from Marilyn Manson, Eminem, NWA and Rockbitch.

I reckon Alice Cooper’s Wayne’s World cameo is fairly true to life. Even way back in the 70′s he’d far more likely be found on the golf course than the usual rock star haunts.
